Yale Releases Scenarios Illustrating Examples of Sexual Misconduct

'Yale University has released a series of hypothetical scenarios illustrating what it considers to be sexual misconduct, along with accompanying descriptions of penalties that could be imposed on those who engage in such misconduct. Peter Salovey, Yale’s president, asked the institution to develop the scenarios last month, after critics raised concerns about the university’s latest report on reported cases of sexual misconduct. Some critics denounced the report’s use of the term “nonconsensual sex,” saying that the phrase was a way to avoid the word “rape.” Others said penalties described in that report were too light. Tom Conroy, a Yale spokesman, said the scenarios were not based on actual cases of misconduct that had been investigated by the university.
