A nation that sends its daughters off to war
Article here. Excerpt:
'The debate about sending women into combat raises larger questions. Both sides avoid them, but they are perhaps the most important ones. What kind of society sends its women into ground combat? Do we want to be that kind of society? Is sending our daughters, wives, and mothers into combat good for women, for men, or for children? To a certain kind of feminist it is repugnant to ask these questions. We don’t ask if we should send men into combat, so we shouldn’t ask if we should send women. People who have blinded themselves to the profound and wonderful differences between the sexes are not open to a discussion about the consequences of those differences, and perhaps there is nothing more to say to them. But those people should not set the terms of the public debate. The American people need to stop pretending that sending women into combat involves questions no deeper than how far they can carry a seventy-pound rucksack.'

Thanks Matt, If a war is
Thanks Matt,
If a war is worth fighting (kill or be killed or enslaved). We better do everything to win, without any concern about PC and gender ratios.
If women are proven to be assets in combat positions, then I have no problem with them being there. I have always supported women in the military in all positions they can productively serve (when it gets down to it EVERYONE has to do what they can). I have my concerns about how women in combat is going to all work out and how it effects comradery and unit safety. I predict birth control, pregnancy and menstruation are always going to be unavoidable issues in certain situations. I guess I will just wait and see; and I imagine that if the women have sought these combat positions, they have thought it out.
And like I have said in my previous posts on this topic. Someone has to look out for the expense. Women in combat has to be worth the money and trouble spent to get them there. Otherwise I would rather the military spend the money elsewhere such as veteran benefits, modern equipment and safety. I even wonder if they have already pulled money from these areas.
All I am after is the most efficient bad-ass military that everyone is afraid to f-ck with! If women can efficiently contribute, then I'm all for it.(But I'm not holding my breath).
