Women in combat: Will they have to register for the draft?
Article here. Excerpt:
'Now that the Pentagon is lifting its ban on women in combat, does this mean that women could potentially be drafted, too?
And as a practical matter: When women turn 18, will they now need to register, as men do, so that they can be conscripted in the event of a World War III, or any military emergency where the US government decides it needs troops quickly?
It’s a thorny question, raising what may be a difficult prospect societally. But the legal implications are obvious, analysts argue.
“The answer to that question is clearly yes,” says Anne Coughlin, a law professor at the University of Virginia School of Law in Charlottesville. “The legal argument is clear: If it comes to that kind of wrenching emergency where we have to press young people into service, there is no legal justification for saying that men alone need to shoulder that burden.”
...
Once the combat exclusion policy is lifted, “My belief is that if we open up combat arms to women, even on a voluntary basis, if there is a draft, we should be able to force women into those positions,” says retired Col. Peter Mansoor, a professor of military history at the Ohio State University in Columbus and a former US Army brigade commander who served two tours in Iraq.'

Um, yeah
We'll just have to wait and see just WHEN such a day will come. I'm not holding my breath.
They will repeal Selective Service Registration First
My belief is that, before the government ever changes the law to require women to register with Selective Service, as men are required to do, they will end such registration for everyone. So, should there be a new court challenge to the law, and should the supreme court rule in favor of that challenge, I believe that will be the end of the Selective Service.
Just another slice of life
The fembots will shy away from any legitimate equality, of course in their favor and use the mix-milen formula in support of women. Women will never be equal in the military until all women are required to register for selective service or lose any government aid for college, as it is imposed on men.
As status quo, women have the choice to go into combat roles. As a former military officer, I will see the MOS selection as adding another caveat to ASVAB scores and selection of jobs, specifically 11B in the army.
Those who score low on the ASVAB will only merit the 11B infantry MOS, a combat position, so If a female earns a score that only merits an infantry position, she will have the choice to refuse this MOS, leave the service, or have special modifiers for females who can then select a different MOS. Another rule bending situation that separates men and women.
The question at hand is the feminist want to see the very minute number of females who might be able to pass the rigors of infantry training and life be able to particpate. However, they are mute when it comes to 'their' very minute number of men suffer DV, so no action/legislation should be taken to remedy this problem.
BTW- The Mix-milen formula is defined as switching to/from the 1950's woman to the modern, 2000's women to gain preference. i.e. men and women are equal, but men need to pay for dinner on first dates because society says that is the right way to treat women...opening the door, roses and candy for valentines, save the women on sinking ships...and so on.
