Olympic athlete discovered 'escorting', gets spun as mid-life crisis
Story here. Excerpt:
'DECEMBER 20---A three-time U.S. Olympian whose illustrious running career has included a Nike TV commercial, a swimsuit calendar, and ongoing promotional work for Disney has spent the last year doubling as a $600-an-hour call girl, an astounding secret life that she now regretfully calls a “huge mistake.”
Beginning last December, Suzy Favor Hamilton, 44, has worked with one of Las Vegas’s premier escort services, booking scores of “dates” in Sin City and other U.S. cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago, and Houston.
While Favor Hamilton (seen at right) has used an alias, “Kelly Lundy,” when working as an escort, she inexplicably shared her true identity with several male clients, believing that her secret was somehow safe with strangers who paid for her company by leaving envelopes stuffed with cash on bathroom vanities in swanky hotels.
...
Favor Hamilton described the escort business as “exciting,” an illicit midlife diversion from her routine existence, one in which she operates a successful Madison, Wisconsin real estate brokerage with her husband, delivers motivational speeches, and does promotional work for various businesses and groups, including Disney’s running series and Wisconsin’s Potato & Vegetable Growers Association.
She said that only her husband Mark, 44, was aware of her escort work, but that, “He tried, he tried to get me to stop. He wasn’t supportive of this at all.” The couple lives in a $600,000 Madison home and appears to be in no financial distress based on a review of court and municipal records.'

Gee, they nearly flogged Tiger Woods...
OK, so she's rolling in cash, is successful by just about every measure, has a husband and three kids, etc., and for some "excitement", she decides to start turning tricks at $600/hr. What, taking up rock-climbing wasn't an option? Stupid is as stupid does, but what's noteworthy is the sort of ambivalent way they report on this "situation". At once they tell us who she is and all she's done and has, while at the same time trying to "explain" it some-- words like "mid-life crisis" and of course "post-partum depression" (can any MDs out there say if "post-partum depression" is correlated with the urge to start seeking excitement by turning tricks in Vegas?). And even trying by implication to give it a pass by mentioning her brother's suicide? Disgusting!
When famous men get caught patronizing whores, they are aggressively condemned by feminists, news media, and whomever else. Now a high-profile (maybe not famous, but definitely a more public person) woman is nabbed as a whore in Vegas and what-- thud. A dull thud. And some half-hearted excuses/explanations. Double-standard? You betchya! While there's a good chance this'll be the end of this woman's marriage (and based on her husband's not liking her unilateral decision to start renting out her vagina to other men, I wonder how it lasted this long), such as it is/was, I predict either the media will underplay it or make excuses for her and eventually she may well come out ahead when all's said and done. Remember: When men patronize whores, they're scum. When women are whores, they're either victims or empowered. Same thing for women who also patronize whores (of either sex). When women do it, they're acting empowered.
But if there is a real victim here, it's the little girl. Before she's even 10, she now needs to find out what a whore is and that her mother's one. And, BTW, her parents are probably splitting up. Merry Christmas, honey.
