Pledge to Never Commit, Condone or Remain Silent regarding Violence against Women and Girls

Article here. Excerpt:

'Following this event, a group of Canadian men decided they had a responsibility to urge men to speak out about violence against women in all its forms.

Wearing a white ribbon would be a symbol of men’s commitment to never commit, condone, or remain silent about violence against women. Today, the White Ribbon Campaign is the largest effort in the world of men working to end violence against women.

Domestic Violence is one of the most pervasive crimes affecting in country. The Center for Disease Control reports that one in four women will experience abuse in their lifetime and according to the U.S. Department of Justice, female victims equal eighty-four percent of all intimate partner violence whose abuse was perpetrated by their male partners.'

Given how under-reported domestic violence is, by both genders, perhaps these pledges should also be signed by women and girls who may be, or may become some day, victims of these crimes. I've only ever heard about a woman in a domestic violence situation 3rd party, I can't exactly go to the police with that. Women often confide first in a female friend about these things, so even if the victim is unable to bring herself to report the situation, what kind of friend doesn't? It's not exactly proof but someone who heard it right from the victim is at least more credible than a friend of a friend of a friend.

I tried to post this:

"I pledged never to condone or remain silent about the feminist spawned witch-hunting of innocent males as shown in "Witch-Hunting Males" at Youtube." http://tinyurl.com/65dpzwu

“Pledge to Never Commit, Condone or Remain Silent regarding Violence against Women and Girls”

Why the need to gender it? Would not a pledge to “Never Commit, Condone or Remain Silent regarding Violence” be a more egalitarian view to take? Do you honestly believe you can force one gender to not commit, condone or remain silent while you do just that for the other? Are you not remaining silent by ignoring male victims? Are you not condoning it by implying only male violence is wrong and needs be addressed? Are you not committing it by blaming the very victims of female violence for the violence perpetrated against women?
