Is the underlying assumption that men commit dating violence just because.
Violence against women is not normal male behavior. Most men I know are protective toward women and would sacrifice their lives to save women. It's what men do. But constant campaigns regarding violence against women perpetrate the false stereotype of the abusive male.

Of course, Obama is pandering to women, so this is expected.
