Lawyer: Lesbians’ assault on gay man can’t be hate crime

'Three women identified by their lawyers as lesbians were arraigned yesterday on a hate crime charge for allegedly beating a gay man at the Forest Hills T station in an unusual case that experts say exposes the law’s flawed logic.

Prosecutors and the ACLU of Massachusetts said no matter the defendants’ sexual orientation, they can still face the crime of assault and battery with intent to intimidate, which carries up to a 10-year prison sentence, by using hateful language.

But Carolyn Euell, 38, mother of two of the defendants, Erika Stroud, 21, of Dorchester and Felicia Stroud, 18, West Roxbury, told reporters the alleged attack “can’t be hateful” because both her daughters are lesbians.

“The defendants’ particular orientation or alleged orientations have no bearing on our ability to prosecute for allegedly targeting a person who they believe to be different from them,” he said.'

Actually more of the PC Hooey Machine this time around. Granted the FHM is sort of a subset of the PHM, but....

I get on quite well with lesbians as a general rule. They are no threat to me AND they know what it's like to be in a relationship with a woman.

However the separatist lesbian is an entirely different beast. For several years I lived in a part of Melbourne well populated with separatists. They would have to be the nastiest and vilest human beings I've have ever known. It didn't matter who you were - male or female, straight or gay - if you weren't of their clique their behavior would be vile toward you even if you ignored them.

I've known bigots of all stripes through my time but none can compare to the separatist lesbians.

In this case the mother thinks the assailants being lesbians excuses them of a hate crime. If they're separatists they'd actually be among those I'd consider MOST likely to commit an actual hate crime against anybody.

Consider in this light the now well exposed radfem hub which is a particular hotbed of separatists.
