Dad bashed wife to death after she killed son
Story here. Excerpt:
'A US father who bashed his mentally ill wife to death with a torch after she strangled their son and tried to kill their daughter has been jailed 30 years for manslaughter.
Christopher Smeltzer, 39, arrived at his New Hampshire home on November 7, 2010, to find his four-year-old son strangled to death and his seven-year-old daughter hanging off her bed with a scarf tied around her neck, Fox News reports.
His wife, Mara Pappalardo, was in the process of trying to kill herself, Rockingham Superior Court heard.
...
"I am mad and sad that my daddy killed my mommy and brother Mason," Mercey said on a tape recording played in court.
"Please keep him in jail for the rest of his life."
...
Smeltzer's charge was changed from second-degree manslaughter to manslaughter by provocation because of the traumatic scene he would have walked into.'

Why does the girl believe
Why does the girl believe her father killed her brother?
Something doesn't add up.
I think you know why
Children are conditioned that way in our society. I think that thanks to the general attitude society has towards males, she believes only a man would be capable of the horrific things her mother did. How truly sad.
And 30 years? WTF! If the genders were reversed, the woman would have been heralded as a hero, and spared time in jail more than likely.

1 - He does not deserve a day of jailtime for killing her, as what he did was just considering the circumstances.
2 - Pretty sick that they would instill her mind that daddy killed her brother and have her actually STATE that she thinks he deserves to stay in jail, that's fucking sick.
3 - Mom's sister gets custody? Why? She's probably just as crazy as the sister, and now she's going to raise the little girl not only to hate her father, but to be as crazy as she is.
4 - It's too bad we live in a society where even men who snap like this, quite justly, feel as if they did something wrong and blame themselves. What he did was a natural and proper reaction, and only our stupid liberal ignorant society would dare judge him for laying down the law as is his right to protect his children.
5 - All it takes for a woman to get away with premeditated murder is a mere accusation that the man was maybe abusive at some point perhaps. Fucked up that when the woman clearly deserved what she got, the man of course gets 30 years. Pfft.
This society is insane.
Insanity.
I agree wholeheartedly, that this society, is insane!
I wholeheartedly agree with
I wholeheartedly agree with the last two comments. I think somebody should start a movement to get this man out of jail. I don't understand how what he did could be viewed as anything other than self defense. If anybody came home to find their children dead at the hands of a man, and then killed him, they would be considered a hero for ridding the world of a child murderer. When a man rids the worlds of a female child murderer, he is treated like a murderer. Only a man could get 30 years in jail for manslaughter. This society is insane, and it's also #$*@ed up.

Disagree
I disagree. this man should be in jail (he did kill someone, even if we can empathize with why), though 30 years is very excessive, it should likely be 5 or so (or whatever the minimum for manslaughter is). I know, I know, people will point to Battered women's syndrome getting off scot free, but to claim men should get off in the same way, rather than saying people getting off after killing someone who didn't first try to kill them is wrong, leaves us spiraling even further into a nightmare were murder is no longer punished.
I agree that 30 years is
I agree that 30 years is excessive, and I'd be less outraged if he was only serving 5 or so. Nonetheless, I just cannot bring myself to view what the man did as a punishable crime. He avenged his son. End of story.
Like I said, if a woman had done the same thing to her husband for killing her son or daughter, it is extremely likely she would not be facing any charges.
I agree that it's wrong to murder, but when someone kills your kid, they're asking for it, and deserve it.
