False rape claim leads to arrest of Gresham woman

'Less than three weeks ago a woman's testimony sent Gresham police searching for a rape suspect, but today the woman was arrested following a Multnomah County Grand Jury indictment that accuses her of lying to authorities.

Danielle Elizabeth Hayes, 35, admitted to police that she conceived the entire July 25 story to "cover-up personal indiscretions," according to Gresham police.

Officers arrived to a Borders book store at about 5 p.m. to find a distraught Hayes explaining how she was grabbed by two men and sexually assaulted in a secluded area on the west side of the store.'
