Putting together a sports team of winners? Men need not apply

Article here. Excerpt:

'If I was asked to assemble a team of American athletes to compete against similarly composed teams from the rest of the world in any sport, the most important decision would be the easiest.

I would take a team of women.

I would take our women not only because Title IX has empowered them into a huge advantage over the rest of the world, but also because they consistently win in ways that our men sometimes neglect or ignore.
...
Go ahead, pull my man card. This is as plain as the grit in Abby Wambach's stare, and anyone who watches both men's and women's sports knows it.
...
Men often complain about misfortune, women often figure out a way around it. Men sometimes take shortcuts, women make the extra pass.'

What on earth is this guy talking about?!

Perhaps we should show him the clip of female soccer player Eleizabeth Lambert

Yeah, I am happy about the US female soccer team and the athletes deserve praise, but why run an article like this? It is totaly false, makes no sense and deters from the praise I think he is trying to convey to female athletes

"I would take groups like the women's teams that have won three of the four Olympic soccer gold medals, six of the nine basketball gold medals, and three of the four softball gold medals in such overpowering fashion that the International Olympic Committee eliminated the sport."

The thing he's forgetting here is the fact that it's much harder to win gold medals in men's events because there are many more male athletes on planet earth than female. Thus, it's much harder to be the best at men's sports than women's.

That's not to say that it isn't hard for women to win gold medals. It's just the competition tends not to be as stiff. There's fewer opponents to beat.

I'm all for women in sports. Heck, when Canada tied Norway for the most number of gold medals (14) won in a single winter olympics by one country, as well as the title of "host with the most" at the 2010 olympics, about two thirds of the medals were won by women. I'm very grateful for the contributions our female athletes made and believe achievements deserve praise. But can't this praise be done in a way that isn't stereotyping and condescending to men?
