Mary Dejevsky: A feminist presumption of victimhood impairs justice

Article here. Excerpt:

'Rape is rape is rape – and a very serious crime. Let's get that over with. Most people also have a very clear idea of what constitutes rape – and if they don't, and they find themselves sitting on a jury in a rape trial, they will be put right pretty quickly by the judge and the prosecuting lawyers. The difficulty in recent years has been less and less judicial practice than the propagation of a hardcore feminist view intent on broadening the definition of rape and presuming guilt rather than innocence. The lines between rape, sexual assault and personal "mistakes" risk as a result becoming blurred.'

The most interesting fact is, according to the article, 60% of all rape trials will result in a conviction. That is in line with most other offences.

The lie propounded by feminists is that the court system is somehow biased, and that alleged victims are skewered by the defendant and their barristers. But in fact, like I said, the overall conviction rate is similar to other crimes that come to court. So it's time feminists stop peddling lies over the issue. After all, if a woman who has been raped thinks there is no chance at all of her attacker being found guilty who's to say she won't even bother reporting the crime, for fear of her attacker walking free?

And who knows how many genuine victims of rape have failed to report their ordeal for that very reason?

Agreed.I have said often that it is feminists doing the most harm to rape victims by perpetuating the myth that they won't be taken seriously, that they will be thoroughly blamed and humiliated further, and that it will all be for nothing because the perp will walk free. But when even a contending french president is arrested after less then 24 hours, it really is hard to believe rape isn't taken seriously. That assuming you aren't aware of the myriad of other evidence.
