MTV, Teen Mom and domestic violence against men

Blog entry here. Excerpt:

'I realize that few of the readers of this blog would be watching "Teen Mom" on MTV; however, if you caught the September 28th episode when Amber beat the crap out of her ex-fiance Gary, you would realize why this episode is so important in at least making an attempt to expose the blatant domestic violence against men.

Reluctantly, I admit that I watch and was sucked into this show on a fairly regular basis. I was shocked when I saw Amber attacking Gary a number of times and then finally, in the Sept. 28th episode, she hit him in the head and tried to kick him down a flight of stairs while he carrying down a TV to put in his car....
...
I must say I was surprised that MTV broadcast the domestic violence PSA for an abused man after the show. It was subtle but well-done. Kudos to MTV for exposing this taboo topic. They could have played it down and ignored it but they caught Amber's abuse on tape for all of the world to see. Yes, I know if the roles were reversed, the man would be in jail with no questions or apologies but at least it's a start.'

Okay, I admit I have watched the show. I caught the first season episodes when they re-ran, but I have not watched much since (I think the first season ran about 3 years ago).

Amber was the teen mom I liked the least. She was a loser (high school drop out), had nothing going for her, but thought she was entitled to be treated like a princess. She always belittled the baby's father, Gary. I felt sorry for him since the very beginning, and wished that they would put the baby up for adoption. Without the show's success they would be on welfare, as neither of them have any job skills.

I only saw clips of the altercation. If a man did this he would be in jail. Women do this because they can. It's sad.

I also question reality shows. The more women misbehave, the more likely the women will be on magazine covers. What an incentive. This low-life, undeserving Amber is on several covers this week speaking about her anger problem.

OFF TOPIC -BUT MORE ON "TEEN MOM"......

The couple that caught my attention was Caitlyn and Tyler, as they decided to give their child up for adoption. Apparently because of the show's success it has influenced others to consider adoption. At least that first season did. Maybe not so much anymore as the show's success has turned the teen moms into celebrities. I am glad that Tyler and Caitlin are not dropped from the show as you can see they have the most successful relationship and the most opportunity because of their choice. Also the adoptive parents and their daughter make appearances on the show occasionally and you can tell the child is well cared for and in a stable family.

TEEN MOM "FARAH": One of the mothers, Farah got pregnant with her high school boyfriend during senior year (They both had alot going for them and parenthood would not have prevented them from continuing their post-high school plans). He and his family wanted her to get an abortion. She did not. Two months before she gave birth, the teen-father died in a car wreck after a senior celebration. Farah has held a job and worked throughout her pregnancy. She is ambitious and career oriented (she is not on welfare) and her beautiful daughter is a year old now and looks just like her deceased father. Now guess who is calling to see the baby? Their only son is dead, and NOW they want to be grandparents to their grandchild. Karma's a bitch. The grandma is BEGGING to see her dead son's child.
