Canada: Teacher found not guilty of sex charges

'A Morinville, Alta., teacher on trial for sexual assault has been found not guilty of all charges.

Michael Dubas, 55, faced two charges each of sexual assault, sexual interference and sexual exploitation involving two female students at G.H. Primeau School in the town about 30 kilometres northwest of Edmonton. In delivering his decision in St. Albert provincial court Friday afternoon, Judge Brian Fraser said he believed Dubas when he denied touching the girls.

"In my opinion, Mr. Dubas, you have suffered a tremendous injustice," the judge said.

The girls, who cannot be identified under a publication ban, alleged Dubas groped them in two separate incidents in February and October of 2009.

Fraser said the testimony of one of the girls was unreliable and pointed to a surveillance video showing the hallway at the time she said she was groped. The video showed no evidence the attack occurred, the judge said.'

In my opinion, Mr. Dubas should wait until these two girls are 25, then sue them for everything they've got!

This is a horrible crime, and in the US these girls would not be treated lightly.

There are many more cases of girls being simply let go unpunished in any way than punished for lodging false accusations. It is still relatively rare despite the recent uptick in news reports wherein it happens that minors (or adults) get punished for lodging false sex abuse allegations (unless the perp is male, of course). For the most part, lodging false accusations of sex abuse against a man is, even when these false allegations are detected, unpunished.

This man is a rape victim. False allegations of rape is a rape.
The current mind fart logic of society concerning a man who has been found not guilty of rape is that a not guilty verdict only means not proven it doesn't mean he is not guilty. Insane logic to be sure but I bet this man get anonymous harrassing phone calls and probably threats on his life.

That's exactly what is supposed to happen in courts. It is not necessary to prove innocence but is necessary to prove guilt in order to be sentenced.

The problem is that people think accusations imply or strongly suggest guilt of man. Nobody should be given that kind of power; one claim to destroy a mans life, horrible in both courts and society.

I saw o'reilly the other day and Megyn Kelly fell into the trap of assuming the Guy was guilty of statutory rape based on claims alone, which were never followed through. Thankfully bill said what I just said above "you can't just go by claims".

I used to like her but she really irritates me now.
