Funding cuts leaves boys cutting wood

Story here. Excerpt:
'Desperate times call for disparate thinking. High school sports budgets are being squeezed even tighter this year and students are finding that they’ll have to come up with creative funding, if they want extra travel or new uniforms.
Last week, the senior boys basketball team kicked off their fall fundraiser with a bottle drive, firewood delivery and leaf raking service. If the weather goes cold, they’ll also be available for snow shovelling.
...
“We’ve had to cut back the amount we can charge each student for each sport they take part in,” said Fisher. “Last year, it was $75 per sport for the major senior sports... soccer, basketball and volleyball. This year, we can only charge $50.'

Compare and contrast!
Boys' teams hard up for cash, they go earn it themselves. Girls' hockey team hard up for cash for prized ice rink time, they threaten to sue their city and lobby the mayor to turn it into a matter rising to a city-council level issue in the capital of a modern western country - and actually get those involved to go along with their tantrum rather than tell them to go work for the money rather than whine for it.
Indeed.
Ya Know What --
Though it might not seem fair, in the long run the boys might be better off learning the value of hard work. Just imagine the satisfaction they'll feel when they win their first game of the season knowing they chopped wood to pay for their uniforms.
On the other hand, the girls will learn a sobering reality about society: Cry sexism and watch the chivalrous government run to their rescue. The 'damsel in distress' syndrome is alive and well.
Even if the girls didn't
Even if the girls didn't sue, but worked instead, their 'work' would consist of selling lemonade, picking daisies, or distributing women's studies classes flyers for the local college; and they'd probably be payed more than the boys to boot.

The boys show their natural
The boys show their natural initiative when faced with a problem. It's the same in other areas of life too. Men get on with things, women expect things to be done for them.
