'International Men's Day is an international event celebrated on November 19 every year. It was inaugurated in 1999 in Trinidad and Tobago and was supported by the United Nations, and received in principal support from men's groups in USA, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. Speaking on behalf of UNESCO, Director of Women and Culture of Peace Ms. Ingeborg Breines said of IMD: “This is an excellent idea and would give some gender balance.” She added that UNESCO was looking forward to cooperating with IMD organisers.

The objectives of celebrating an International Men's Day include focusing on men's and boy's health, improving gender relations, promoting gender equality, and highlighting positive male role models. It is an occasion for men to highlight discrimination against them and to celebrate their achievements and contributions, in particular for their contributions to community, family, marriage, and child care.'

I suspect there won't even be a peep about this in the mainstream media. How about mass media and all other societal institutions calling attention to the oppressions males suffer (historically and presently). And while we're at it, let's call attention to the persecutions and abuses males suffer at the hands of man-hating gender feminists who run their agendas through societal institutions.

In India we received a good press with around 50+ articles in 2007 and 2008 .So let us have optimism .

Celeberate the international mens day

the way we see it in 1999 jerome Tilaksingh started in 1999 in westindies ( cricket powerhouse)

In 2007 India discovered and decided to follow it it and held rallies on november 19th again repeated in 2008 and continuing a week from now . We got 50 media mentions in 2007-2008

In 2008 Australia recognised having celeberated it in small fashion but really promoted it accross many more countries

In 2009 it has taken on in most nations with warwick marsh playing a sterling role to popularise it furthur .

It is way to promote the male viewpoint/tragedies in conducive environment .
