"No equality to be found in domestic violence"

Via Marc A. Op-ed here. This one is worth responding to. It actually admits the near 50/50 data but downplays male victims based on injury rates, misleadingly. I see no comment page but a letter to the editor can be sent to northnews-at-northumberlandnews.com. I sent them a letter which is below the article here. But it might be good to have more. Excerpt:

'Physically and emotionally abused women of Northumberland County are safer today than they were a few years ago.

Northumberland Services for Women's long fundraising campaign to expand its capacity and services culminated with the opening of the third phase of the project, the new administrative offices, on Thursday, Oct. 15.

Although the project has resulted in an increase in beds for abused women and their children, second stage housing to ease families back into society in a safe environment, and now the office opening, that doesn't mean the problem of violence against women has ended. In fact, the shelter continues to struggle to accommodate the number of women fleeing abusive relationships.'

To editor:
"For some reason the author declined to print her name. Perhaps the reason is the possibility of angry letters from those of us who know better. Consider another aspect of male-female violence; rape. It is often maliciously reported that 1 in 4 or 1 in 6 women will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime, but for some ethereal reason, most aren't reported. Consider if that were true, would this author dismiss the acclaimed numbers? I put forth to you that men showing up at the emergency room would not put their masculinity in jeopardy by reporting that a "mere" woman had done them harm. That would certainly account for low numbers of men harmed by their partners. I also put forth that the psychological damage from physical abuse far outweighs and outlasts the physical damage. Lastly, I would suggest the author look up the Wheel of Domestic Violence. One spoke in that wheel is labeled "Minimizing, wherein an abuser minimizes, or makes light of the abuse she has caused, much like what the author is doing in the article. Resources are limited. Let's use what is available to stop ALL domestic violence and stop making a gender war out of a problem that has been with Man since time began."

Also, this was written by a feminist trained in obfuscation. Notice that women and children are "abused", but men are "beat up on"; something no man would admit to.
