NY Times Blog: "Do Women Make Better Loan Officers?"
Article here. Excerpt:
'As we’ve noted before, men have suffered more job losses during this recession than women. But several recent studies have blamed the excesses of finance, the industry that dragged us into said “mancession,” on men themselves. (Way to show gender solidarity, guys.)
...
A new working paper looks at loans given by a commercial bank in Albania from 1996-2006. From the abstract:
[W]e find that loans screened and monitored by female loan officers show statistically and economically significant lower default rates than loans handled by male loan officers. This effect comes in addition to a lower default rate of female borrowers and cannot be explained by sample selection, overconfidence of male loan officers or experience differences between female and male loan officers. Our results seem to be driven by differences in monitoring, as loan officers of different gender do not seem to screen borrowers differently based on observable borrower characteristics. This suggests that gender indeed matters in banking.'

Well of course
Better at everything. No exceptions. Categorically. Yep.
sheesh, talk about kicking a
sheesh, talk about kicking a group of people while they're down.
And it sure makes a lot of sense to tell some 22-year old unemployed construction worker trying to support a family of four, that it's his fault he's out of a job.
Also, if most heads of banking or loan firms are men, why would it be surprising that (it appears that) men are responsible for the meltdown? Journalists are so dismally stupid, they must have failed arithmetic.
And how come when something bad happens, men are responsible as a group, but when something good happens, well...let's find the woman who made it happen* - even if it is the janitor's wife doing a juggling act.
*I was going to say, "well...let's give credit to the individuals who made it happen." But I think they only mainly do that anymore if it's one or more women, at least as far as things that show up in the MSM.

P.S. why the f*** are they looking to the most remote corner of the world for this stuff? Isn't Albania the country no-one can get in to or out of? Why would such a country give away any kind of honest information on its financial situation? How reliable is this??
Relatively Speaking
One of the most absurd efforts I ever observed about trying to make women better at everything was an article purportedly showing that Einstein's ex-wife had actually devised his theory of relativity. The author argued Einstein stole the theory from her and never gave her any credit. That the article was even published shows how far we've debased ourselves in our worship of women.
As to this article, perhaps they had to use Albania because they couldn't find any damning evidence elsewhere. I guess this article does finally answer the burning question we've all been asking: were the Albanians responsible for the financial meltdown? The answer appears to be no.
