UK: False rape claim victim's relief

'A millionaire businessman has spoken of his relief after he was cleared of carrying out a violent sex attack.

Anthony Atherton, 51, was accused of attacking a 49-year-old woman in the kitchen of his home in Victoria Road, Bolton last August.

A jury at Leeds Crown Court took an hour to acquit Mr Atherton of attempted rape, sexual assault, assault by penetration, making a threat to kill and false imprisonment.

He claimed the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, set him up.

He said: "I'm grateful after eight months of hell to be vindicated."

His solicitor Paul Schofield said: "From the very onset Mr Atherton firmly denied all these allegations.

"He claimed that this case was a malicious complaint and a 'set up'. The verdicts, the speed with which they were returned, and the order for costs, all vindicate him completely.'

I hope he does a lot more than put this hellish incident behind him. A false accusation of rape is rape and he has been raped! He also has the financial resources to help other men in the same situation and to influence the politicians that make it possible for false allegations to happen in the first place. But I suspect he like most men in his position will just let it fade away without any activism.

the law allows her to falsely accuse a rich guy of rape
(got civil court $$$$$ in her mind).
no matter it could cost him his very life in prison.
it's all about her, don't you know?

then sets the legal attack dogs loose on him,
via tax payer $$$, and they are a-rarin' to go.
lawyers see $$$$$$$$$$$$.

and we (HONEST folks) aren't even allowed to know her name,
so she can take more "free shots".
HER RIGHTS? might be violated?

think this is what justice looks like.

there was a time when England had some real thinkers.
Literature and Science is littered w/ their names,
