"Women" agenda page on whitehouse.gov

Read it here. Replace "women" in the url with "men" and you get a 404 error. No big surprise there. Excerpt:

'Fighting for Pay Equity: Despite decades of progress, women still make only 77 cents for every dollar a man makes. Throughout their careers, President Obama and Vice President Biden have championed the right of women to receive equal pay for equal work. In the Illinois State Senate, President Obama cosponsored and voted for the Illinois Equal Pay Act, which provided 330,000 more women protection from pay discrimination. In the U.S. Senate, Obama joined a bipartisan group of Senators to introduce the Fair Pay Restoration Act, a bill to overturn the Supreme Court's recent 5-4 decision in Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. The bill will restore the clear intent of Congress that workers must have a reasonable time to file a pay discrimination claim after they become victims of discriminatory compensation. The President was also a cosponsor of Senator Tom Harkin's (D-IA) Fair Pay Act, and President Obama will continue to promote paycheck equity and close the wage gap between men and women.
...
Reducing Domestic Violence: One in four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. Family violence accounted for 11 percent of all violence between 1998 and 2002. As a member of the Senate, President Obama introduced legislation to combat domestic violence by providing $25 million a year for partnerships between domestic violence prevention organizations and Fatherhood or Marriage programs to train staff in domestic violence services, provide services to families affected by domestic violence, and to develop best practices in domestic violence prevention.'

My question is why are the items that affect everyone (e.g. Health Care) on the women's issues page? Are they that gynocentric that they think Health Care is for women only?

Considering men live 4.5 years longer, women's health deserves more attention. I find it deplorable the US health dept. spends 10x more money on prostate cancer research than that of breast cancer. I think women also deserve better mental health care considering their 4x more likely to commit suicide. We also need to re-structure US work conditions considering 93% of work related deaths are female. I'm ashamed to live in a country which blatantly ignores female health issues.

But if you look at the CDC report on life expectancy, a boy born today will live over 7 years longer than a girl born today. [more sarcasm]

You guys are too cynical. The Barack does have programs for men. Here's an example:

"Strengthen Fatherhood and Families: Barack Obama has re-introduced the Responsible Fatherhood and Healthy Families Act to remove some of the government penalties on married families, crack down on men avoiding child support payments.."

He's going to crack down on men who avoid paying child support. That should benefit men.

(You can find this by program clicking on "Other Issues.")
