The book ‘Mia - Sanningen om Gömda’ (Mia – The truth about Hidden), written by freelance journalist Monica Antonsson, is all it has promised to be. The real story about Marklund’s story, that shows what a thin line the celebrated and famous journalist has been walking on when she “documented” how Swedish authorities ignored a mother fleeing from an abusive husband.

Antonsson’s book is based on documents from authorities and about 40 interviews with people who know the background or Mia personally. What is showed is a rather complex child-care dispute, where the escape by Mia with her and her husband’s daughter is severely over-dramatised and far from rooted in fear for her life as she claims. Instead, many people says to have suffered by being falsely portrayed in the books by Marklund and do not recognise Mia’s claims, this includes her old friends and family members.'

Exactly what Liza Marklunds role in the project has been and how much she knew is still not quite clear. But given how desperate she now tries to lie herself out of this tight spot, and how she has built a lucrative career in this matter, one can still draw some conclusions.'
