Husbands blamed for high maternal filicide rate in Japan

'Experts say the case is emblematic of a broader crisis. Recent statistics record more than 100 cases of maternal filicide — mothers murdering their children — since the end of 2005, including six in September this year. Although the proportion of Japanese aged 14 and younger has been steadily shrinking in the past decade, the number of filicides has stayed roughly constant.
The cases feature a wide variety of motivations and triggers. Many, however, feature persistent theme: young mothers feel acutely isolated from their community and receive no support from uninvolved or abusive husbands. Usually they are too ashamed to seek treatment for their depression. In a moment of quiet desperation, they are driven to kill.'

Soooooooooooo... let me get this right:
When a man kills a child he's a vile beast and must be expunged from society... but when a woman kills a child the man is self absorbed and abusive???
Do I have that right?

Yes Gunner there is no end to the hypocrisy and in fact it will grow ever more. Strangely I hold you and other military men in part responsible for this. The reason for this is that the greatest gift to feminism in the last hundred years has been the two world wars. War strengthens women and weakens men. It seems impossible for men like you to see this and so men will continue to go off and fight for the political system and women will rise ever higher at the expense of men.
Men will never realise who their real enemy is. In the end they will bring their own fate upon themselves.
Divorce & Suicide on Rise in Japan
I have read recently that both the divorce rate and the rate of suicide among men in Japan are on the rise.
It's been explained as a massive wave of retiring men ("salarymen") who have spent 25 years or more enduring long commutes, long hours at the office, hard drinking after work, and isolation from their wives and families. The workaholic culture of the country means that these guys often only spent time at home on week-ends. (Weeknights, they would sleep on the floor in their offices.)
So now with millions retiring to move home full-time, their wives are complaining that the old man is just in the way, and she doesn't even like living with him in "her" little bird cage castle. So she files for divorce.
It is interesting that the responses to marital distress are quite different - the woman kills her child, the man kills himself.

It is both illogical and beyond pathetic how whenever women commit a wrong against someone else, even their own children, somebody is quick to try to excuse their behaviour and put the blame on someone else. It's kind of reminescent of a parent getting blamed for a child's behaviour. I'm sick of this crap!
