Court reverses conviction in baby death

'The Iowa Supreme Court on Friday ordered a new trial for a woman convicted of drowning her infant son, whose body was found in a central Iowa lake.

Anfinson has been serving a 50-year prison sentence in the 1998 death of her 15-day-old son, Jacob. His body, weighted down with rocks, was found in Saylorville Lake near Des Moines.

Anfinson’s lawyer argued that the baby died accidentally in an infant bathtub and she panicked and hid his body in the lake.
