Rhode Island schools required to teach about dating violence

Story here. Not such a bad idea-- but will the curriculum include the whole truth about intimate partner violence? Excerpt:

'One other state, Texas, mandates unspecified awareness education on dating violence for students and parents, while several other states encourage it. But the Rhode Island measure goes further by requiring the topic be incorporated annually into the curriculum for students in seventh through 12th grade.
...
School districts are expected to start implementing the law this school year. By December, officials hope to have established a policy for responding to incidents of dating violence.

The law is gaining traction around the country, with members of the National Association of Attorneys General unanimously adopting a resolution encouraging the education in their states. Nebraska's top prosecutor said he intends to submit legislation modeled after Rhode Island's law, and apparel maker Liz Claiborne Inc. has helped promote it around the country.'

From the article I seriously doubt that there will be a true non-biased teaching. However I am always looking for hope, and it is possible, even if its unlikely.

Hi,Matt, this is Dave from Brooklyn. I called the Attorney General's office in Rhode Island to discuss the need for the truth to be told to students about date violence and not the usual propaganda that passes for facts that organizations such as Liz Claiborne have been spouting. I spoke to an attorney there who was suprised by the statistics I stated and she was receptive to the points I was making. I felt I made inroads for our cause with this call and by talking to a fair minded woman. I am about to call the New York Attorney General's office with the same message. I will keep in touch with the results of the call. If anyone is interested in calling the Rhode Island AG office, the number is 401 274 4400. I spoke to a woman named Joey Linhart[I believe I got her name right] who is handling this topic for the Attorney General. I hope people call their AG'S with the same message.
