UK: Mothers should be paid to stay home with their children

Article here. Excerpt:

'Mothers should receive financial help of up to £6,000 a year to stay at home and care for their babies and toddlers, according to a report which says that nurseries fail to provide the one-to-one adult interaction children need.

Too many parents of babies and toddlers are being forced back to work by financial pressure and government policy when they would prefer to stay at home during their offspring's earliest years, according to the research by a think-tank chaired by the former Conservative leader Iain Duncan Smith.
...
"We need to level the financial playing field for parents," Mr Duncan Smith said. "The current system pressurises mothers – and it is mostly mothers – into going back to work soon after their children are born.'

Shouldn't men be paid to be fathers too?

You're right, men should be paid if they choose to be a stay at home dad. I can admit, I would love for my wife to be able to stay at home and get paid $12,000 a year. That would help out massively. But I, as the one who makes less an hour than my wife, would probably stay at home. But yet, I wouldn't get paid.

When I worked in retail, I saw many stay at home dads. And so many times, the female cashiers would call them "Bums," "lazy," "gold diggers," etc.

THAT'S what stay at home dads have to face. Prejudice, the constant deriding, and scornful looks from people who think they're all bums.

The reason it's "mostly the moms" being pressured into going back to work is because the men didn't have the option of leaving work in the first place.

This would be good if it meant that men didn't have to pay the extortion that is allimony and child support to their ex-wives. I think the crooked government which allows such injustices to happen should have to pay the extortion instead.
