UK Mother 'drowned four-year-old daughter in bath because she was ashamed of her disability'

Story here. Excerpt:

'Opening the case for the prosecution Michael Chambers QC told Chester Crown Court that Mrs Hill was "ashamed and embarrassed" of her daughter's condition and murdered her in a "determined and planned act".
...
"The defendant put her in the bath and drowned her by holding her head under the water for a long time until she was dead."

After the killing, Mrs Hill dressed her daughter's body as if nothing was amiss and drove her around for eight hours, drinking several glasses of wine, before taking her to hospital claiming she was unconscious, the jury heard.
...
Mrs Hill, who denies murder but admits manslaughter, told police she had been suffering from suicidal thoughts before the killing and later suggested she was psychotic.
...
"The defendant couldn't cope with caring for Naomi and left a lot of the everyday care to her husband Simon," said the barrister.

"She even suggested to him that Naomi should be adopted but he would never agree to that because he doted on her."
...
Jurors heard how Mrs Hill had told doctors that she was hearing voices in her head but had later admitted making up the account.'

Ed. note: The origianl submission included a link to this story in The Daily Mail but curiously, it is no longer available at that location. A Google search revealed this blog entry that quotes the Mail's version of the story, which included a reference to an affair "the mother" was allegedly having with a coworker, as follows:

'CCTV images captured Hill, who cheated on her husband with a work colleague days before the killing, joking with staff at a petrol station while her child lay dead in the back seat. She eventually took the youngster’s body into the casualty department of a local hospital in the early hours of the morning, telling doctors: ‘Will somebody help me, I think she is dead.’'
