Republican Women Turn to the Gender Card

Story here. Excerpt:

'Female Republicans embraced identity politics with gusto today, touting the virtues of presumptive vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin and suggesting that any attempts to question her qualifications amounted to blatant sexism.

In a "hear me roar"-style press conference, a parade of elected officials and GOP operatives issued a lengthy defense of the Alaska governor's credentials, and former Massachusetts governor Jane Swift said Palin has been the target of "an outrageous smear campaign."'

Wow... I'd really hoped that a McCain administration would, while not outright championing men's rights, at least provide a bulkhead against the tide of irrational gynocentrism that's sweeping the western world. Turns out McCain has no problem pandering to emotional, irrational, and destructively entitled women as long as they label themselves "conservatives".

'ST. PAUL, Minn. - John McCain's campaign could be panicking or politicking with its claim that sexism lies beneath any questions about Sarah Palin's past.

They say they're not panicked — that the Alaska governor's spot on the GOP ticket is secure — so that leaves room for just one conclusion for now: McCain's political team is playing the gender card to appeal to women, and bashing the media to solidify support among conservatives.
...
"The scrutiny you are giving her is so darn unfair. It is really indecent," he told MSNBC's morning crew. "She is being asked questions like, can you, as a mother ... be vice president? Whoever asked a man?"

And so he went, from one TV camera to the next.

CBS: "Where are the feminists?"

ABC: "Give the woman a chance ..."

Fox News: "I'm at the point of (being) really angry."'

And conservative men are the most chivalrous bastards going.
No political party is going to set the record straight. Conservatives tend to pander a bit less, but only a bit when it comes to women.

Plus, the GOP is going to want to be careful to avoid being stereotyped as anti-feminist, so they will sell men out in a heartbeat.

Stephen Harper did the same thing up here by passing legislation to allow for stiffer sentences for people (probably just men) who violently assault pregnant women. He was trying to appease women who disliked him because of his pro-life stance.
Let's stop thinking a conservative mentality will help men.

It's time to understand that feminism under anti-male disguise is in reality the best champion of men's rights and is deeply misogynistic.

37 per cent increase in alcohol-related deaths among young women over the two periods studied, 1996 to 2000 and 2001 to 2005. Over the same period, the risk for boys aged 14 to 17 declined 17%.

"The increase in alcohol-related deaths for females and the decline for males across the two periods may result from several factors, including the introduction of alcopops, first sold in Australia in 1995, which particularly target females,

Any feminist that votes for Palin is revealing her sexism.

What sucks is that the Democrats will raise the stakes in bashing males in order to keep their precious feminist cargo on board. Who will lose the most out of this competition? Men.

.......... IMO if she doesn't turn into the mouse that roared there will be little political leverage from her nomination as VP.

It is significant to note that if the Republicans should lose in November it will mark the second time this year that a viable woman candidate groomed for a slot in the top echelon of political power in the US got rejected.

Can you say, "born to lose?"

Just shows how innately hypocritical and assine misandry is.

If a pregnant woman viciously assaults her pre-born with liquor, cigarettes, cocaine, heroin, HIV and other STDs there is nothing the law can do because she is above the law.

The take home message seems to be that no one is allowed to hurt a fetus except its mother.

How the hypocrisy of the attitude that in one case the fetus is considered a person and in the other case it isn't ever slipped by unchecked is beyond me.

Any woman with morals should be cringing.

I have seen commentary that Gov. Palin opposes VAWA. If true, it is worth noting. Can anyone verify?
