Man Harassed, Needs Advice

Robert H wrote in about a situation he found himself in where he was being harassed at his workplace and accused of "making moves" on another employee's wife. After having left the job because of the stress, he has attempted several ways to get some sort of support, but found it nowhere. Robert's story can be read by clicking Read More below. I would urge you to contact Robert if you can suggest to him any resources and offer some moral support for another man who was mistreated and is being ignored. Robert H writes "Hello my name is Robert H. and I have just had an experience that I would like to pass on to you. I worked for a major auto parts retailer for the past 2 yrs. with loyal service. We had a new employee start her training with the company, and the first night that I had to close our store with another employee, myself and the female. Upon leaving our store all three together, her husband which is also an employee of the same company accuses me of MAKING MOVES on his wife. I reported it to my store manager and requested that it be written in all of our files for protection of myself in case any accusations were made in the future. It was not! After a year of torment from these two and two hospital visits to a cardiac unit for job-induced stress from these two people, I have had to quit my job and go to another company. I made repeated complaints to my store mgr. (who is female) and also to my district mgr. and relations mgr. Just four weeks earlier I had a meeting with these upper mgt. personnel and told them to fix this problem or I would quit, they advised me to work it out if I could. It wasn't three weeks until we had another confrontation, and I decided to quit and go somewhere else. My point is this: if the roles were reversed, and I was causing this female these kind of work problems, she could accuse me of harassment or any number of other forms of complaint and I would have been written up or terminated. But because I'm a male and I'm white I don't have any rights as I have been told by the EEOC if I were minority I could claim racism, if I were female I could say sexual harassment or gender discrimination, if I were from an alternative lifestyle I could complain and those organizations would line up to help me. If I were physically challenged I could get those organizations to help me, if I were native american I could get help, if I were famous I could get help, but because I'm just Joe Ordinary White Male living lawfully and working my life away to support my family, TUFF LUCK!

I have a lot of documentation of the incidents that happened to me and I have contacted lawyers, the EEOC, even the company itself. Point is, I had my rights violated and no one will listen to me long enough to understand. If you have any direction to point me in i would be very grateful.

Robert H.
