Platform Standing Committee itinerary For Democratic Convention

With the Democratic National Convention upon us I thought you guys might want to read this report (.pdf file). I certainly applaud identifying fatherhood as a necessity but we see the same rhetoric: fatherless homes are the sole result of male irresponsibility. As for the 'opportunity for women' section, its the same B.S. MANN battles on a daily basis. It's frightening this language appears in a document sponsored by our government. Excerpts:

p. 18: 'When women still earn 76 cents for every dollar that a man earns, it doesn’t just hurt women; it hurts families and children. We will pass the “Lilly Ledbetter” Act, which will make it easier to combat pay discrimination; we will pass the Fair Pay Act; and we will modernize the Equal Pay Act.

We will invest in women-owned small businesses and remove the capital gains tax on startup small businesses. We will support women in math and science, increasing American competitiveness by retaining the best workers in these fields, regardless of gender. We recognize that women still carry the majority of childrearing responsibilities, so we have created a comprehensive work and family agenda.'
...
p. 50: 'We need them to understand that what makes a man is not the ability to have a child–it’s the courage to raise one. We will support fathers by providing transitional training to get jobs, removing tax penalties on married families, and expanding maternity and paternity leave. We will reward those who are responsibly supporting their children by giving them a tax credit and we will crack down on men who avoid child support payments and ensure those payments go directly to families instead of bureaucracies.'

When you read the Democratic party's platform, it is like a trip to the NOW web site.

There is not a single radical feminist policy they do not adopt.

When Barack likely picks Joe "Father of VAWA" Biden tomorrow for Veep, that will force my decision to sit out this next faux election version of fake democracy.

If I vote for either candidate, I am just lying to myself.

All the sons divided they'd fall
Here await the birth of the son
The seventh, the heavenly, the chosen one.'

Stephen Colbert pretended to be running for President earlier in the year, and actually came in just behind Joe Biden in some poll. On his show he feigned outrage over coming in behind Joe Biden. "What's that about," he asked? How ironic, in light of Biden now being so close to being on the ticket.

I'd vote for Colbert if he were still on somebody's ticket in November. He's for less of a joke as a candidate than anything else on either ticket, IMO.
