Story here. Excerpt:
'The legal ruling, which has just been published, is the first time a Muslim applicant had been rejected by France due to their religious practices.
The unnamed 32-year-old woman is married to a French national. She arrived in the country in 2000, speaks good French and her three children were born in the country.'

I disagree with the traditional religious view of categorical feminine submissiveness as well. But I also think if one comes across a person with religious views that otherwise do not represent a clear threat to public safety, any state that purports to honor religious diversity and tolerance can't use that as the reason for denying citizenship to an applicant, *all other things being equal*. Unless of course, it happens to be a person with strong religious views regarding sex roles. And ones that place women beneath men's authority. Then that's different.
So I do wonder what the French would have said if a man from another country appeared and was just like this woman only he felt it was religiously correct for a man to be submissive to the women in his family/clan/society/etc. Suppose the French would deny him citizenship for that reason? Doubt it.
why would the guy you describe want to go to france matt?
he could run for president in this country.
too late, he already is.
