I found this video interesting mostly because its an actual news report from a Sacramento television station. This is the first time I've ever seen this issue discussed during a news program.

Oral arguments on 7/22
Thanks Ray.
I'm the attorney on that case. The oral appellate arguments will finally occur on 7/22 in Sacramento. We're going to win this one. Watch.
Illuminate the Lies
When the feminist-operated DV center spokesperson states that "we help men too" what she means is women get counseling, housing, and medical assistance - and men get referred to a Batterer's Treatment Program.
I hope the lawsuit during the discovery process can compel the DV center to dislose its actual records of service.
They will likely also reveal how many of these feminist centers deliberately over-count how many they "serve." (For example, if one allegedly battered woman is recommended to have twelve counseling sessions - she gets counted as 12 incidences of service.) It would also be interesting to review phone logs, because these centers are always saying they are swamped and cannot meet demands for assistance, yet little evidence of this has ever been closely examined.
Good luck Marc!
Marc, this is great news.
Marc, this is great news. Just this morning I was thinking "why has no one sued the DV industry for gender discrimination".... and low and behold I get this on my RSS feed. Good job Marc!
My hope with the blatant sexism in the VAWA that every service and every group that takes federal money will be on the chopping block for lawsuits. Unfortunately, it is the nature of the beast: the squeaky wheel gets the oil. Women's groups have far and above done the best squeaky wheel impersonations...it is time for us to play the same game and use the system against sexism as well (no matter how distasteful we may find it).
Good luck Marc, from all of us. Please keep us posted and let us know if there is anything else we can do. You may want to pass this along to Glenn Sacks too if he doesn't already know about it.
Oral Arguments on 7/22

Bless you man. My ex-wife was a batterer during our entire 7 year marriage (I still bear the scars) and when it became bloody I finally sought help and was given the same "I'm sorry sir, we're to help the victims, not the abuser" treatment.
Amongst the many things that need to change are the DV/IPV laws at the state and federal levels, as well as the LE and DSS policies when handling calls by male victims, so try to include in the settlement a court order that they incorporate male victim DV/IPV verbiage into their written literature and media outreach efforts (I have some here cached on the HD if you'd like to email for it).
I'm not a proponent of law suits... but sadly it's the only thing bureaucrats and administrators understand: hit 'em hard and make it big.
I wish you every success in court and a huge settlement, and my regards to your clients.

This is great news! I saw
This is great news! I saw the date of 2006 and figured this one had come and gone without much of a splash. Great to hear it is coming up! If this case is won what sort of precedent will that set? Will it impact beyond California?
Great stuff Marc. Many thanks for your work on this.
^_^
Whenever I hear of a story like this it gives me hope. I'm glad that the MSM is finally starting to expose the double standards that exist in the DV industry. Men deserve refuge when they're being abused too! I wish you guys all the best in winning this lawsuit.
