Family Begs "Attacker" To Return Mother's Baby

Notice how the associated press only one time* in this entire article made reference to the suspect being a female. ("...any woman who talked about wanting a child or acted pregnant recently.") If you take that line out of the story, you would have no idea it was a female. The words "Attacker", "Abducter", and "Someone" were used instead of directly stating "woman".
------
* Ed. note: Actually there was one other reference: 'They fought after the woman told Ochsenbine "I'm here to take your child,"'. But that one was the only other such reference I could find, and I agree the word 'man' would have appeared a lot more had the suspect been known to be male rather than female.

"They Were Pregnant"
i submitted this article thinking only one reference was made suggesting the attacker was a female. there is actually a third reference regarding gender.
"The description is not locked in concrete," Toelke said. "It could be someone who had a child die recently or could not have children and has told people THEY WERE PREGNANT and needed to steal a child so their lie would not be found out"
"they were pregnant" implies female. i still believe there is a disparity. if the attacker was male, the word "man" would have been used more often.
"had a child die recently" and "could not have children"
that profile might be the most logical approach when determining a possible a motive
however, are exuses already implied with those qoutes? obviously a female would only committ such a hideous crime if she was depressed over losing a child.

Aye, get a load of this
Of course the fact that the abductor was female was disguised as much as possible. When it's a man involved, they make mention of the fact it's a man a few times, example here. I just wonder if the Medical University of South Carolina is going to remove this page after they've noticed it's still in the archives.

As I look at that profile more and more there's a rumbling in the back of my brain. I meant to end the post above, but I may edit more in later.
EDIT: well I did find this story where they at least acknowledge that the attacker is female. However, they can't pass up the "blame a man" game with this beautiful quote:
"They're taking a child to fulfill the vacancy," he said. "They'll go out and take a child to maybe satisfy their spouse, something along those lines.
God forbid a woman take responsibility for her actions.
