McElroy Advocates More Scrutiny of Violence Data

Wendy (iFeminist) McElroy published an excellent piece at FoxNews that argues for closer attention to new violence statistics, defends Dr. Laura Schlessinger, and condemns (non-I?) feminists for dismissing the data. McElroy writes -

"In a recent radio broadcast and newspaper column, Dr. Laura Schlessinger addressed the 'Take Back the Night' movement that protests violence against women. She accused it of deliberately ignoring data that suggests men may be more vulnerable to violence than women. ... That PC ideology rests on the concept of women as victims and men as aggressors.

The backlash against Schlessinger was dramatic and instructive to others who consider questioning the dominant paradigm of victimhood."

The piece also includes a look at the recent Australian "Personal Safety Study," which found that "although men are three times more likely than women to be the perpetrators of violence, they are twice as likely to become victims of physical violence or threats."

I appreciate that in her writings Ms. McElroy is becoming more of an MRA advocate for objectivity, and less of a strident instructress.

I am surprised that Laura Schlessinger is cognizant of and opposed (in theory anyway) to the misandry that is so rampant in the domestic violence state industry. I have always had a good feeling about the motivations of Wendy McElroy.

BTY: MRA hunger striker John Murtari will be on a call-in talk show this Sunday. You can hear it on the internet and call in using a toll-free number. Please help spread the word. A great opportunity!

It’s apparent that feminists (and their allies) vehemently oppose any reasonable dialog that could possibly weaken their stuck-on-stupid positions. They have adopted an unwavering “us-and-them” stance. I have every reason to believe that they will continue to ignore or minimize (unbiased) studies that suggest their “facts” may be off-base while at the same time seek-out sources (credible or not) that support their ideology. It’s disturbing to me that “adults” conduct themselves in such childish ways! Perhaps they are just adolescents trapped in adult bodies?

Unfortunately, being "stuck-on-stupid" is the safe position if you are an elected feminist lackey.

Can you imagine more than two male Reps or Senators actually taking a public stance for men's rights?

(Recently 100% voted for the reauthorization of VAWA and another FIVE YEARS of feminist legal tyranny.)

This is why, for all practical purposes, there is no men's movement beyond the margins of the Internet.

There is currently no risk that any MRA site's server will crash due to traffic overload.

And absolutely no cause for any incumbent pol to worry about "the MRA vote."

Just keepin' it real....

I was trying to find just the right Schopenhauer quote to extend axolotl's excellent use of the one above to support his elegant logic.

My concern is that Schopenhauer lived in a time when it was difficult to totally stamp out "truth." (Literacy was the main highway for ideas... you had to be able to read and comprehend. Not so today in our post-print "new media" environment.)

Today, due to mass media of mind-numbing conformity and the general wage-slavery of the populace, it is quite easy to achieve the eradication of truth.

Just look at Paris Hilton!

(I was prepeared to write a long thesis, but the image of Paris pretty much makes the same point.)

Semiotics.

That's truthful.

Oh, here's the Schopenhauer fest - forgive the scrolling necessary ...

A man can do what he wants, but not want what he wants.

A man's delight in looking forward to and hoping for some particular satisfaction is a part of the pleasure flowing out of it, enjoyed in advance. But this is afterward deducted, for the more we look forward to anything the less we enjoy it when it comes.

Though Schopenhauer never married he did have a legal confrontation with a female that plagued him for years. He was accused of assaulting a female who sued him for physical injury and he lost. He had to pay her a stipend for years. Equavalent to being married; Right?

Also, his mother was what one could call a strong willed pushy feminist of her day. These factors may explain his rather cynical view of women in his writings.

It's puzzling that the obviously brilliant and eccentric philosopher was mostly smitten by 17 - 19 year old "women."

I suppose he was not seeking an engaging conversation with an intellectual equal.

His mother's ridicule of her son's intellectual aspirations may have played just a small part in his own gravitation towards less dismissive females.

Good ol' Arthur might justifiably be called "The Father of the Modern Marriage Strike..."

To quote --

"Marrying means to halve one's rights and double one's duties", (or even more drastic)-

"Marrying means, to grasp blindfold into a sack hoping to find out an eel out of an assembly of snakes."

Too bad Schopenhauer won't be available to testify at Joe Biden's 2010 VAWA reauthorization hearings!

McElroy is a feminist,
Always has been a feminist apologist and always will be.

Anyone that has some emotive feeling towards the feminist mcElroy should have a good look at her site and find out why she pays homage to the most hated feminazy on the planet.

This is because the numbers are constantly being cooked by feminist sympathizers so everyone thinks women are always the victims.

A study currently being done at Harvard is a collaboration between a women's rights lobbying group and a harvard researcher in the school of public health.
I'l bet she talked to lots of women and not a single father's rights group about this research.

I found out that the researcher is Radha Iyengar. She was involved in the VAWA reauthorization and only works with women's groups. She is not unbiased and creates feminist propaganda. This is what feminists call research?
