Israel: Knesset Subcommittee Examines Discrimination Against Fathers

Via Marc A. Story here. Excerpt:

'(IsraelNN.com) A new Knesset subcommittee for fathers' rights in divorce and child-custody proceedings held its first meeting Monday.

The Subcommittee on the Family Crisis in Israel was presided over by its chairman, MK Chaim Amsalem (Shas). Committee member and initiator Avraham Ravitz (UTJ) delivered the opening statement which ignited a stormy clash between government representatives and rights groups.
...
Dr. Orli Iness of the University of Haifa told the committee that “when the Knesset adopted legislation on the matter of protecting women from violence, it was reported that about 20 percent of complaints filed were false, but it adopted the legislation as the price to pay in order to protect the weak… Presently, there have been reports that in some precincts the figure [for false complaints] is as high as 50%. If that had been the case at the time, the Knesset would have thought differently about the matter.”

...
[The committee chairman] also announced the establishment of a cross-ministerial committee on the phenomenon of discrimination against men, and promised to use the power of the Knesset to research the system’s response to complaints and failure to prosecute false claims.'

Great post, Marc.

I could hardly believe my eyes when I read this report. Can it really be true that at long, long last, there is actually a government somewhere in the world that is seriously facing up to some of the more appalling problems created by rampant feminism? And allowing the veil to be lifted off them by a group of men who sound as if they know full well who has caused those problems, how and why, and who are not going to be fobbed off by the usual smokescreen blown up by the feminists and their fellow-travellers?

I am not familiar with the state of marriage, divorce and the family in Israel (enlightenment, anyone please?) but the simple fact that the sub-committee is named for the "Family Crisis in Israel" seems to answer that one pretty squarely. Maybe the Knesset is the first government body to be forced to expose the reality of what the feminists have done, because Israel is one of the states that can least afford the expensive luxury of letting them destroy the family and undermine the moral strength of the country. It has too many fierce enemies too close to allow itself to be poisoned from within.

As I read the comments made by members of the Knesset sub-committee, they rang all kinds of bells that are familiar to anyone in the Men's Movement. A stormy meeting? You bet. I would have loved to have been there. Those guys sound like they really mean business, and I hope they do. Unlike the apologists for the spinelessness of the state, who seem to have been exposed for the limp lettuces they really are:

"The Welfare Ministry representative at the committee meeting faced sharp criticism that her office had failed to hand over data on the phenomenon (i.e. false complaints). “Making us the enemy of the nation does not help anyone,” she said defensively"

OK, so don't make yourself the enemy...do your job or get the hell out and let it be done by someone who can do it...

Then again:

"Rivkah Alkobi of the State Prosecution, was greeted with disappointment when she said that her office lacks any empirical statistical information on the matter. “The reason many cases are closed is ‘lack of public interest’ or the ‘preservation of the family,’” she explained. She conceded that it was very rare to see those found to have filed false complaints prosecuted."

What a disgustingly shameful admission. She might just as well have said the State Prosecution simply does not care about false complaints. What else are we to conclude?

"MK Amsalem...also announced the establishment of a cross-ministerial committee on the phenomenon of discrimination against men, and promised to use the power of the Knesset to research the system’s response to complaints and failure to prosecute false claims."

Can that be true also? This is all getting too much for me, I will have to go and lie down. Please don't wake me up and tell me it was all just a fanciful dream...

Agreed, Paul. Very well said. It was very inspiring to read this. I'm so glad to see these men fighting back so hard, and most of the critical issues were being addressed. This is what needs to happen all over the world.

i am as proud as a new papa! been following the Israeli blogs for some time on the subject and even commented a few times. the growth of this movement has been astonishing. real men in that country still are the head of their households. did ya'll notice the little lap dogs nipping at their heels? no one has confirmed this data? wouldn't surrender the data? whose to say...bla, bla bla. and the cops were a no-show? imagine that.

now when they stop the spiraling divorce rate other countries, if they still have marriage, can see what it takes to stop this. tell the truth about what is happening. don't stop. KEEP HAMMERING. thank God it is working, for them at least. one brick at a time, and eventually the entire feminist nightmare will collapse. i predict.

think i'll do a dance. a Jewish dance. then i'll lie down.

This appears to be a serious attempt to get to the truth of domestic violence, custody and discrimination against men. The findings of this enquiry will be heard around the world!

Lets hope they have the courage to take the right path, despite it being a rocky and potentially bloody one.
