Bill Cosby's New Book Condemns Fatherless America

The entire first chapter of comedian Bill Cosby's new book is on-line:

In "Come on People, On the Path From Victims to Victors" Cosby condemns the epidemic of fatherlessness in the black community and in the nation at large that has devastating consequences:

"A house without a father is a challenge. A neighborhood without fathers is a catastrophe, and that’s just about what we have today. ... Why is the problem so grave? A mother can usually teach a daughter how to be a woman. But as much as mothers love their sons, they have difficulty showing a son how to be a man.... We can’t speak honestly of black culture in America unless and until we honestly address the issue of the estrangement of fathers and their children."

There's humor as well, with Cosby taking on the gansta rap culture that too often celebrates the street as real education -

"You can’t land a plane in Rome saying, “Whassup?” to the control tower. You can’t be a doctor telling your nurse, “Dat tumor be nasty.”

...and smell what he's shovelling. Our society decided collectively that maleness and masculinity were the root of all evil (even female evil) and that maleness and masculinity were maladies which needed to be repressed and punished about 25 years ago.

Widespread acceptance of this asinine and clearly self-serving, female supremacist proposition happened pretty damned quick, since it was only about 15 years after the psychotics in the radical feminist movement demanded that society adopt their proposals that it actually happened.

Some of Bill's choice words:

It’s time for us men to think of the future, to straighten out our acts, to say to ourselves, I am more interested in raising my child than any other issue I had before.

But tragically, too many of our sons deserve to be right where they are.

Real men act responsibly, and they sure as hell don’t walk away from the mothers of their babies.

Society keeps laying the problem on the “unwed mother.” You never hear anything about the “unwed father.” We have to talk more about these men and to these men if we are ever to see them assume their responsibilities as men.

young men simply do not know or understand what a father’s responsibilities are

Black women, bless their hearts, are more loyal to black men than we deserve.

I had to stop reading this filth at that point. The nausea was overwhelming.

It's nice to see that MSNBC chose to publish said filth because it's right on-message: problem with girls? Blame the boys, change the boys. Problem with boys? Blame the boys, change the boys.

Same old shit, brand new author.

Where does Cosby think these black men who aren't "responsible" come from? I've got a news flash for you Bill-O, they come from homes broken by female entitlement and feminist laws, and they were raised "irresponsible" by their mothers who had every single choice in the reproductive process and still chose to bring them into the world, remember? But oh, no, women can't possibly be responsible for anything! We can't say anything about that, nosiree, not via a misandric sludge-pump like MSNBC.

So why wasn't I surprised when Bill headed straight for the feminist-approved dogma, and blamed black men for every last problem facing the black community, including the problem of fatherlessness? I'll tell you why: because I know he and his publishers wanted to sell books far more than they wanted to help men or boys (who, after all, suffer from maleness, which needs to be repressed and punished), and that kind of sexist crap is what women want Oprah to sell them.

Bill Cosby - chivalrous misandrist extraordinaire. Sure, he'd like us to think he's talking about the needs of boys and men, and he's even clever enough to package it in a disguise of concern for men and boys. But we all know that's strictly forbidden, unless you're also blaming men and boys, which he most certainly is. He needs to stick his man-hating chivalry up his ass, then have a Coke and smile and shut the fuck up already.

RandomMan,

Everything you've said is bang on correct.

I didn't think this article would even get posted here if I took on all the complications of Cosby's book.

Cosby occasionally tells girls to keep their knees together, but you're right that he is brutal in condemning young men for what he sees as absolute irresponsibility.

Which, to his generation, means UNMASCULINE.

The dude is OLD! He remembers when men had actual respect in this country. He was the first black man to have a leading role on TV --- recall "I SPY?"

It's easy to fault Cosby for not having an up-to-date grasp of the systematic feminist machine that seeks to criminalize and harvest men.

He lives in Beverly Hills, right?

But I think MRA's might benefit from listening to this old mans' idealism.

He's not anti-men.

He just wants to see the resurrection of the masculinity he grew up knowing.

In the end, Cosby is writing about PRIDE and HONOR.

The problem is, he doesn't understand the modern dilemma for men.

Pride and honor can get you killed, or hauled into divorce court in a heartbeat.

Well, as in all comedy --- timing is everything.

You covered the generational issue perfectly, and what I saw as misandry is really just outdated chivalry. Cosby's chivalrous generation may have been all about pride and honor when it came to dealing with the "ladies", but the "ladies" they aimed all that pride and honor at simply don't exist anymore, so his comments sound sexist to my ears. Of course I think chivalry is one of the many methods used to keep men enslaved in our society, so that might explain the difference in my perspective.

None of my criticism of Cosby's stuff was meant to rub off onto you Roy, and I do appreciate you linking to the article.

RandomMan,

I never get "rubbed off" by anything that I read by an intelligent MRA.

There is nothing personal in my political agenda.

Quite unlike Gloria's famous declaration that "the personal is political."

She will be proved wrong, in the near future.

Justice is not personal. Nor bound to one gender.

It is universal.

That is what men's rights is all about.

Men don't have a choice about having kids. Women do have that choice.

Back when bill was making babies, neither gender had choice. Hormonal birth control has only existed since the 60's, and abortion around the same time.

He grew up in a time that if you got a girl pregnant, you married her. (nevermind that the implication is HE got HER pregnant rather than THEY did, but anyways.) That is what his core value and core belief is. As such, he thinks from the same mindeset.

Cosby may not be saying the things we'd wish him to, but any book that's saying "men are valuable," and "children need their fathers" is a step in the right direction.

Once we establish that children need their Dads, and folks start to want that, then it's just a matter of time before they also realize that the profoundly sexist legal system has to change.

Step by step, inch by inch...

The man chases women like they are going out of style and has had several lawsuits filed against him by the very women whose asses he keeps kissing. That's not a strong black man that's a sambo with bad jokes. He's a has been and knows it, thus he kowtows to women to stay popular. He needs to sit his wrinkled, out-of-shape ass down somewhere. Men are not dogs; we should not take any half-eaten bone that is thrown to us. Until men demand the superior treatment that women receive and stop taking the crumbs that fall of of women's dining table we will NEVER be seen as human beings.

Mr.Reality, gotta call you out on your blatant racism, and worse, your lack of logic and strategy for MRAs ...

You wrote -

"Until men demand the superior treatment that women receive and stop taking the crumbs that fall of of women's dining table we will NEVER be seen as human beings."

Would that superior ("equal?") treatment include the men you refer to (above) as "coon" and "sambo?"

Or would you propose a color-caste system for the rationing of equality and justice for men?

This type of carpetbagger cracker-wingnut mentality hurts the men's movement even as much or more than traditional idiotic Chivalry.

Thanks Mr.Reality for reminding us all that to lead a parade of ONE is to go nowhere fast!

Vote for Hillary. You're in her fascist ideological tent already, in the nosebleed section for the inconsequential.

If crackerville still exists affluent blacks live there along with your redneck ass. To be politically correct; I am an African-American you dolt. I agree with a few of your posts but there are times, such as this one, when you log-on and start talking about things you know nothing about.

In truth: Bill Cosby has always been a sambo -- as is any black man in 2007 that feels he must pander to white female demands or even those of black females(instead of doing what is right) -- dancing a jig for his audience(In this case women). It's called stand-up and grow a pair. No more kowtowing to women.

From his Jell-O commercials to his recent anti-father statements in blaming black men for the failures of black women; this man is a fucking joke. No wonder you back him up. Come on Fat Albert?

The only difference is now he is supporting(and depending on) sexism instead of racism.

As far as arguing back and forth with an argumentative man; I'll pass. So there really is no need for you to repond with the usual "You're a bad MRA" or any other such nonsense.

MrReality,

Your complexion would never have occured to me; it's your logic that gives me pause.

Is that racial credential elevated now that your blackness has been played as a stealth trump card in our dialogue?

Do we get to play the "who's blacker than black" charade?

I have a couple cards up my sleeve....

In all honesty, it could be important and enlightening for you to write more about your antipathy for Cosby, and presumably, his generation of black men.

My bias is always just to understand. When you call a man a "coon," that does not lead anywhere intelligent.

But calling any man a coon, a sambo, a greaser, a wanker, a pussy, a fag, a chink, a raghead, an Evil White Oppressor ...

yes, even implying that he's a cracker...

That kind of sh*t closes down dialogue.

There are a lotta crackers in the White House I'd like to see retired. A few are black.

Anyway, please write more about why Cosby is such an important symbol of a generational divide in your perspective.

Do you see nothing of value in what he says?

This book talks about an epidemic in America - it is not a sexist or racist book, it discusses very real problems with the youth in the USA. So many children are living without fathers or without mothers, parents aren't taking active roles in the lives of their children and our society is suffering becuause of it.

When someone says that Bill Cosby should just sell pudding pops and avoids the real issue at hand, well, that is just plain ignorance and that makes you no better then the man you are slamming with insults. We can not create change until we change. We can't promote healthy thoughts or destroy racism until we find the strength to do it in our hearts and souls.

You may not like the author and you don't have to - but you can't deny that this is a serious issue and deserves your heart and your attention. If you can do better then Bill then go out and do it, write a book! Please! Not because I don't believe you can but because society needs you to. No one learns without the encouragement of others. Speak up about the issues, that is the point!

If you are a parent then raise your expectations for what is possible - give your children hope.

Misandric women also discuss the very same problem in America; and like Bill Cosby they blame men for all ills in America. Women are quick to blame "the patriarchy" and so is Bill. Earlier I read where members here were saying "Dr. Helen" is a fake MRA and so on and so on. The reason given for their conclusions was Helen blames men for their problems. She may say there is a "missing father epidemic" but then she goes on to say that it is the father's fault that he is not there and a bunch of other misandric bile painted as "being on men's side." Bill does the same thing. All he does it blame men and since men are so beatdown -- like dogs -- they are willing to accept any misandric bone that is thrown to them. Like you.

The motherfucker is phony.

When someone says that Bill Cosby should just sell pudding pops and avoids the real issue at hand, well, that is just plain ignorance and that makes you no better then the man you are slamming with insults.

No. When someone says that it is their opinion and their right to be able to do so without being labelled as "plain ignorant" which is an "insult" by the way and "avoiding the issue" according to you. Fucking hypocrite. Moreover, if I debunk a statement and then tell you to blow-off after debunking the statement it does not change the fact that I did indeed debunk the statement. 2+2 = 4 no matter how I say it. Saying "2 + 2 = 4. Whoever doesn't kow that is an idiot," does not make the equation any less valid or true. It most certainly does not amount to "avoiding" the equation since the equation has already been solved.

What men don't need is Politically Correct police men running around telling men what they should and should not say. Women do that enough, it seems the male dummies are following their lead.

We can not create change until we change.

If that is true then Bill needs to stop blaming men -- black men in particular -- for societies ills. That's what men have been doing for hundreds of years "blaming men only." Therefore -- according to you -- Bill is not changing anything because he has not changed. He's still blaming and attacking men for societies' ills....so are you.

We can't promote healthy thoughts or destroy racism until we find the strength to do it in our hearts and souls.

Nix the part about the souls, I am not religious. As far as healthy thoughts and all that bullshit....look the bottom line is society needs to own up and admit that women have screwed shit up with the help of chivalrous males. They need to stop blaming the mythical "patriarchy" like Bill does. They don't need to say "we need fathers" while saying "the reason these fathers aren't here is because they are bums." That's just the deadbeat dad spiel that has been getting played over and over again. This time Bill coats it in a book that is supposedly meant to help men.

Haven't feminists been spewing bile for years under the pretension of "helping men?" Also, aren't women guilty of trying to "change" men? Our misandric school system has been telling men to "change" for years. A recent article I posted shows a way they are "changing men" using chemicals. Perhaps they are taking your advice? Gendercide anyone?

IN CLOSING: I have nothing else to say to you or Roy until you actually get a brain. I don't get along well with men that bend over and take a shafting up the rear-end like good slaves.

I think that the problem isn't that men aren't accepting more responsibility, but that they have no reason to accept more responsibility. In America every father is a suspected rapist/murderer/wifebeater, and the future financier of his wife's parade of boyfriends. Men won't commit to support kids that they have no right to raise or remain in marriages in which they have no rights or dignity.

The patriarchy exists only in pimpmobiles and the imaginations of feminist hysterics. Blame the matriarchy, not the patriarchy, for the epidemic of fathers who have better things to do than stick around to be falsely accused of molestation or shackled to the child support plantation.

Now that I think about it-- listen to Cosby's routines about his violent parents. These days Cosby's dad would end up in a Supermax for his style of discipline.

Socrates asks:

1) Why do young Black American men, (teens and early 20's) commit crimes that they know will most likey send them to prison for such long periods of time in such large and disproportionate numbers compared to other ethnicities in the U.S.?

2) Why do young B.A.M. choose to join gangs which they know will most likely cause them to spend a large time in prison?

3) Why do young Black American females (teens and early twenties) choose to have babies without first obtaining a marital commitment from someone who is likely to remain out of prison?
