Story here. Excerpt:
"An Elkhart woman who pleaded guilty to strangling her four young children was sentenced Monday to life in prison without parole in each child's death.
Angelica Alvarez, 27, told Elkhart Circuit Judge Terry Shewmaker she repented for what she had done and accepted responsibility for the murders of Jennifer Lopez, 8, Gonzalo Lopez, 6, Daniel Valdez, 4, and Jessica Valdez, 2, on Nov. 14, 2006.
Alvarez pleaded guilty to four counts of murder on Sept. 4 in return for Prosecutor Curtis Hill Jr. agreeing not to seek the death penalty."

...Hey, they're her children
...Hey, they're her children and she can kill them if she damn well wants to!!!
She didn't repent
Notice how it says she "pleaded guilty to four counts of murder on Sept. 4 in return for Prosecutor Curtis Hill Jr. agreeing not to seek the death penalty."
Sorry, but that's not repentence. That's not accepting responsibility. If she pleads guilty only in return for not receiving a harsher sentence, then that's not repentence.
Real repentence is turning away from one's evil action and accepting responsibility, regardless of the outcome. Period. No ifs. No ands. No buts. She didn't repent. She simply successfully kept herself from being executed.

Incredible..but let's wait and see if she gets"Yated"
I am stunned:
1) A woman was sentenced to life in prison;
I am even more stunned:
2)A woman accepted responsibility for a criminal act.
But to use a term anthony invented a while back, in honor of Andrea Yates, who was personally responsible for inventing the diagnosis of "post-partum psychosis" - let's wait and see if this lady gets the Andrea Yates treatment ("Yated"). Or at least, they may end up giving her parole anyway (it is preposterous for the judge to say "without possibility of parole"..how can anyone hold him to that, say 10 years from now? Especially if she becomes a model prisoner, by conducting group therapy sessions with the other female prisoners).

Indiana Law -- No Parole for LWOP
"Although the majority of Americans say they generally support the death penalty, polls show that more people actually prefer the option of life without parole, which was adopted in Indiana in 1993.
While life without parole in some states means only that an inmate will not be eligible for parole for at least 25 years, in Indiana it means life without any possibility of parole."
Google it. You NEVER get out of Indiana.
