'Children as young as four should be taught in school about sexism and harassment to tackle the “ticking timebomb” of sexual bullying in classrooms, a Commons select committee has been told.

Experts working within schools and with young girls who suffer sexual violence and abuse inside and outside the classroom, were unanimous on Tuesday in calling for the mandatory teaching of issues around sexism.

... by virtue of maleness, as young as 4. I wonder when ppl will ask for age-appropriate training of 4-YO girls to make sure they understand they should never expect to be paid for by men.

Or is that too radical a notion?

No schools really dont. Oh how I wish they would stick to teaching reading, writing and math and adopt a set of rules that provide a safe environment to teach those subjects. It's quite simple, if a child breaks a rule and bullies another child, then the offending child gets punished.

I know the article is from UK, but here in America many states will be voting in November on their state's superintendant of public instruction. Whether you have kids in school or not, it is an important choice. Please vote wisely. I dont have any children in public school, but the position could impose rules on homeschoolers, and my oldest son is asking to be enrolled in school (a hard thing for me to accept)

My state just ruled that gender-indentity curriculum will now be taught in all grades beginning in kindergarten. It will teach that gender is a social construct. I prefer to teach my kids biology and respect for all people. (biology dictates that when motivation, consequences and physical characteristics are different, you get different behavior which explains the behavioral choices the majority of men and women tend to make)

Anyway, just give things some thought when the schools ask for more money or when you elect educational leaders.
