Restaurant Acknowledges Pay Gap By Charging Women Only 79% of Their Bills
Article here. Excerpt:
'April 14 is Equal Pay Day — a day devoted to raising awareness of the pay gap between men and women — and one restaurant is making efforts to narrow the disparity. In response to the troubling statistic that women earn just 79 cents to every dollar a man earns, a New Hampshire restaurant called The Works is only charging women 79 cents to the dollar, or 79% of their total bills. (Men will pay full price.)
New Hampshire Public Radio reports that women who visit the chain’s locations in Concord, Keene, Portsmouth and Durham today will receive this cheeky 21% discount.
“It’s been a problem that’s been around for a really long time, decades I would say,” Don Brueggemann, manager of The Works in Concord, told NHPR. “And I think many of us thought it would kind of work itself out but it has been very persistent over the years. We’re feeling like this is a way to highlight that issue.”'

Cynical gimmick
It's just a pandering, cynical gimmick, like so-called "ladies night" at a bar.
If the restaurant mgt. actually believed the wage gap myth sincerely, they would offer the discount (subsidized by male customers, of course) all year round. But their great commitment to social justice in fact lasts only one day.
Pandering asshats.
The Equal Pay Act of 1963 is
The Equal Pay Act of 1963 is a United States federal law amending the Fair Labor Standards Act, aimed at abolishing wage disparity based on sex (see Gender pay gap myth). It was signed into law on June 10, 1963, by John F. Kennedy as part of his New Frontier Program. In passing the bill, Congress stated that sex discrimination:
depresses wages and living standards for employees necessary for their health and efficiency;
prevents the maximum utilization of the available labor resources;
tends to cause labor disputes, thereby burdening, affecting, and obstructing commerce;
burdens commerce and the free flow of goods in commerce; and
constitutes an unfair method of competition.
The law provides (in part) that:
No employer having employees subject to any provisions of this section [section 206 of title 29 of the United States Code] shall discriminate, within any establishment in which such employees are employed, between employees on the basis of sex by paying wages to employees in such establishment at a rate less than the rate at which he/she pays wages to employees of the opposite sex in such establishment for equal work on jobs, the performance of which requires equal skill, effort, and responsibility, and which are performed under similar working conditions, except where such payment is made pursuant to (i) a seniority system; (ii) a merit system; (iii) a system which measures earnings by quantity or quality of production; or (iv) a differential based on any other factor other than sex.
We have the exact same law, here, in the U.K. where I live. And, as far as I can tell, this same law exists throughout the Western world, as a whole. For OVER half a century it has been illegal to pay women (or men, for that matter) less, based simply on sex or race (or what have you).
This whole "Gender-Wage-Gap" myth is nothing more than a feminist shakedown of our collective Western federal governments. It seeks that women be paid the same as men for LESS work, LESS productivity and LESS responsibilities, on the part of women.
The whole of the feminist organizations should be arrested for mass extortion. because that is what it is! And that is ALL that it is.
Furthermore, this would insure that women would be economically much more well off then men. Therefore giving women MORE power. And thus dis empowering men even further.
And, believe me, Lads. I am an ex-feminist and I can tell you, here and now, unequivocally, that THIS is exactly what the feminists are after!
Never believe that any 3rd or 4th wave feminists are for gender "equality". Let me assure you, they are for quite the OPPOSITE!
