Gloria Steinem’s laughable excuse for feminism’s bad rep

The ur-feminist stopped by “CBS This Morning” on Friday to promote her new book. Host Norah O’Donnell began by noting that Meryl Streep “doesn’t consider herself a feminist. She says she considers herself a humanist. Why is it that the feminist label do you think has that —”

Steinem broke in, rushing to insist that Streep says she’s both — and, anyway, it’s Lim­baugh who’s given feminism a bad name, because he “talks about feminazis every day.”

Sorry, Gloria: The brand turned sour long before Rush ever launched his first rant — a victim of its own leaders.'

Feminism has a "bad rap" because it's a hate movement, nothing more.

Plus 2 things.

#1. I never listen to Rush Limbaugh. A lot of women don't. (but I suspect a fair number do).

#2. I was IN the feminist movement for just under 4 years. I joined, because I really did believe (at the time) that feminism was truly about equality for both sexes. I quickly learned that it was not. But was (and still is) simply a supremacy-hate-movement. And that is why I left it. I AM for gender equity, they were not. ...bit of a conflict of interest, there, I dare say.

I find it laughable that Steinem would blame Limbaugh for such a thing. Limbaugh is ONE man, with limited power. And it's not just "Radical-Right-Wing Gun nut, religious zealots" that hate feminism. I am no longer a Democrat, but even when I was I despised feminism. I am now a political independent, and despise feminism even more so.
So for Steinem to make such an assertion demonstrates her and feminism's desperation to find scapegoats rather than look to themselves for the answers as to why so many of us (women) turn away from feminism.
Try a bit of INTROSPECTION, for a change, Ms. Steinem.
