Workplace Worries for Women vs. Men

Article here. Excerpt:

'The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, of which NIOSH is a part, says women are more likely to have work-related cases of carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, respiratory diseases, infectious and parasitic diseases, and anxiety and stress disorders.

Women’s work-related health concerns differ from men’s for a number of reasons, including different types of jobs being performed, as well as social, economic and cultural factors. For example, because women are more likely to hold part-time jobs, which are typically more unstable, they could be more afraid to voice safety concerns for fear of losing their jobs, the CDC says.

Apart from straightforward safety concerns, women also face sexual harassment, which can impact physical and mental health and cause anxiety, depression, lower self-esteem, alienation, insomnia, nausea and headaches.'

From Occupational fatality on Wikipedia:

'The majority of occupational deaths occur among men. In one U.S. study, 93% of deaths on the job involved men, with a death rate approximately 11 times higher than women. The industries with the highest death rates are mining, agriculture, forestry, fishing, and construction, all of which employ more men than women.'

when did my sex become such flipping crybabies?
why is it that it seems that the majority of us bitch when we don't get our way, and then bitch when we do get our way?
my mum and dad raised me to believe that if i am given a job, like a man. i should do the job like a man. (at least to the best of my abilities). and that includes not bitching and crybabying about every flipping thing! i mean, yes, complain about legitimate things (and some of the things listed are legitimate) but good god! come on, already.

also, i love this part; "women also face sexual harassment".
what, and men don't??

honestly...
'bunch of crybabies...!

I wonder how much of this so-called "sexual harassment" in the workplace is the result of men feeling pressure to have a relationship/get married etc. (part of societal expectations for men) combined with the obligation to take the initiative. Then consider that women often give mixed signals or can be hard to read, and you have a recipe for conflict and confusion. Men's perspective on the whole "sexual harassment" issue is ignored by the mainstream media.

hmmm... i don't know really. that would be interesting information to track down.
i may just do that, when i have the chance.
i do know this, however; that in many cases, women that sexually harass men in the workplace will often report the man (or men) for sexual harassment, when their advances are rejected by that man (or men).
men typically do not do the same, in the reverse. this of course gets reported as "sexual harassment" of women, instead of the other way around, thus inflating the numbers of women reported as "sexually harassed". meaning, that women are actually sexually harassed less than the numbers suggest, and men more than the numbers suggest.
i don't know the numbers on that, but i can check into them while i'm looking for the other information, you mentioned.
and as far as the mainstream media ignoring men in this instance..., what else is new, huh? when don't they ignore men's issues, problems and concerns?
