Columbia Mattress Girl To Attend State Of The Union
Article here. Excerpt:
'The Columbia University student who drew national attention for carrying a mattress around campus to protest her alleged rape will now be taking her mattress to a new venue: the United States Capitol.
Emma Sulkowicz claims that in August 2012 she was raped by a fellow student in her dorm room, and since last fall she has been hauling a mattress around campus as a senior art thesis dubbed “Carry That Weight” while demanding that her alleged rapist be expelled. The campaign drew national attention and imitators across the country.
Now, Sulkowicz has been invited to attend President Obama’s State of the Union address on Tuesday night as the special guest of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York.
...
Whether Sulkowicz was actually raped, however, remains up for debate. She herself admits to prior sexual encounters with the student she accused, Paul Nungesser, and even says her alleged rape began consensually and only turned into sexual assault when Nungesser became violent with her.
Sulkowicz also only filed a complaint in April 2013, eight months after the actual event. A Columbia campus tribunal found Nungesser “not responsible,” and when she finally filed a police report in May 2014, they declined to pursue the matter.
In the absence of any formal punishment, Nungesser has been targeted in other ways, with his name published in Columbia’s student newspaper and included on a “rapist list” plastered in bathrooms around campus. Nungesser maintains that all his encounters with Sulkowicz were consensual, and he told The New York Times that the experience has cost him most of his friends.'

Alternate headline:...
... "US senators join in effort to propagate unsubstantiated criminal complaint against man against whom there was so little evidence, not even Columbia said he did anything wrong"
Gillibrand, et al., I think so live in their own world that they don't realize how many ppl they're alienating as they bounce around the Capitol's halls proclaiming there's a rapist under every stone on every campus in America.
Usually when ppl behave like this, there's something other than the immediate, apparent cause behind it. I hope in this case there isn't. If Gillibrand, McCaskill, et al, are acting out of retributive spite or overcompensative defensiveness due to sexual assault suffered earlier in life, that'd at least make it understandable in a human compassion sense. Still not good, but understandable. But if it's merely for political opportunism and/or genuine femino-misandry... well, there's no way to connect compassionately with them on that score... unless you're like them on that score, of course.
the real issue...
I think the attendance of Mattress Girl is irrelevant.
Gillibrand is a fool. And this issue is more about her stupidity.
First, her attack on the military failed: her bill did not pass. Then she took up arms against college men. Until she realized her data was flawed and she quietly took down the data points. Now she needs to "save face."
The way to read the events now is "Machiavellian." Gillibrand is a coward who is now wrapping herself in the "blanket" of Mattress Girl, hiding behind the soft pillows, knowing she screwed up by alienating half the voting population and the women who respect men and sons. Mattress Girl is desperate to continue her lie and her 15 minutes.
The real issue is "Will Coward Obama raise this issue tonight?"
The telling issue is that Gillibrand has publicly stated she wants Obama to mention it. I interpret that to be a plea. I suspect that Obama will not because he, too, now knows that the college rape issue has gone hysterical and the Democrats need to stop waging war against men. If he does mention it, I will be disappointed. If he does not.... speaks volumes for the fool that Gillibrand is.
I read this interesting comment and will post it here.. NOT my words, but very insightful:
What will happen if the administration tries to yank Title IX funding from any university due to violations of IX is the institution will take the federal government to court. The courts will rule that Ttile IX is being abused, and will find for the institution. This will effectively call the administration's bluff on Title IX.
No institution has been willing to devote the time and resources needed to face the US government down yet. But a drastic Title IX penalty against any university would force that confrontation. That is why no university will ever penalized. -
PROTEST IDEA
I think one of the ways, a falsely accused person can protest could be by wearing a "T -Shirt" that reads, "I am a RAPIST..... Because I am a MAN". Wonder how successful will this be?
"This is what a Men's Rights Activist looks like" T-shirts
Hey, if you can get a custom T-shirt made-to-order these days for what, $25 or less, why not? The cost of these kinds of things hasn't just dropped, it's collapsed.
Or just this for those who simply want to cause ppl to imagine such is possible:
"Not a feminist"
That's all. Nothing else. Watch the jaws hit the floor. :)
How about:"Humanist, not
How about:
"Humanist, not feminist" or "Gender egalitarian, not feminist"
That'd be cool. Sadly, that could be career suicide for some. Knowing that really makes a person aware of how saturated our society has become with feminist thought. It's like you're not even allowed to disagree with it without being punished by Big Sister (which is what I call the overreaching influence of feminism and the resulting thought police - inspired by Orwell's 1984, with a little twist :) ).
