Bucaramanga: The city where women ‘rule’ every Thursday night
Article here. Excerpt:
'Every Thursday in the city of Bucaramanga, Colombia, it’s an all-women party all night long – while the men face curfew at home.
Men in the Colombian city of Bucaramanga are being told to stay home and mind the children while their wives and partners go out to party all night long, as part of an initiative to tackle the high levels of domestic violence in the city. The women-only night, set for Thursday, is expected to be a hit with the city’s women and bring a carnival atmosphere.
Bars, restaurants and shopping malls will offer special events for women, and local authorities are organising women-only concerts, parties and dance classes in the city’s parks and squares. The Catholic Church is hosting events too. For men staying at home, restaurants are offering discounts on home deliveries.
Organisers of the women-only night, which is spearheaded by the chamber of commerce, governor and mayors of the province of Santander, of which Bucaramanga is the capital, hope it will stir debate about gender roles in a city known for its macho culture.
“The women-only night and voluntary curfew for men aims to be a symbolic event and a moment of reflection for the authorities, state institutions and society about the high levels of domestic violence and the role of men in society,” says Yamid Saldana, one of the project’s coordinators and press manager at Corpovisionarios, a Bogota-based think-tank that is promoting the initiative.
“It aims to send the message that it’s ok for men to stay at home and look after the children and wash the dishes, and it doesn’t mean they are less of a man,” says Saldana in a telephone interview.
Men who want to venture onto the streets will have to carry a special ‘safe-conduct pass’ they can download online, stating they know about the initiative and the reasons why they do not want to participate, says Saldana.
Women will be in charge of this northeastern city of 530,000 people for the night, when four mayors and the provincial governor will temporarily hand over power to female government officials, he adds.'

Better Idea
How about, instead of going out and partying all night while the men are stuck at home, the women have to go to work for the day at whatever job the man does, (even if its hard labour), while he stays home and takes care of the kids? I wonder if they'd go for that. Sheesh, the people who put this in place are clearly not all there. First, they seem to think that all domestic violence is men's fault, hence why they are given the curfew. Then they go on to display their ridiculous worldview that men do nothing but party while the women take care of the kids and household. What utter hogwash!
Roll over and play dead
So if there's a sinister macho culture at work oppressing women left and right, how does it allow women to demand and receive of pols and regular men alike a curfew vs. men for even a single night, even a "symbolic" one? If indeed men were so powerful, such wouldn't be suggested, much less implemented. It's those with power who make the rules the less-powerful to follow. In this case, the more powerful group (feminists) have by proxy (the gov't) gotten the less-powerful group (men) curfewed for a night, if "only voluntarily" (and if so, why should men be expected to download some form wherein they are expected to list the reasons why they're not staying in? And are all these bars/clubs giving things away to women and having "specials" staffed entirely by women? Will fire, EMS, and police personnel also all only be women?).
The article says there were 215 DV cases in 2012 per 100,000 inhabitants. The pop'n is 530,000. This means there were 5.3 x 215 acts of DV reported in 2012, or 1,139. Now divide that by 365 and you get a *whopping* 3.12 DV cases/day. I wonder how many murders, armed robberies, DUIs, extortion, non-DV assaults, etc., they also had there in 2012? And do their stats reflect assaults by women on men or other women in same-sex rel'ps? Probably not. Can't count what you are blind to see, yes? So because there are 3.12 DV cases/day in a city of just over .5 million people, pols and feminists want men to "voluntarily" relinquish their basic civil rights to go about their business w/out gov't officials asking (possibly demanding) to see some kind of "papers" from them.
Trust me, it doesn't end here. As long as the targets of this persecution and "voluntary" suspension of rights roll over and play dead for it, further encroachments will materialize until the general right to move about freely will in fact be curtailed for men. Men will need "papers" (like they do for this night) and be liable to present them on demand from police or, possibly, any given woman. Sound familiar? The USSR, E. Germany, Nazi Germany, where else? Bucaramanga, Columbia, apparently.
Sadly,I predict such things soon on American college campuses: No men out after X o'clock on campus.
hogwash!
good word. just finished up. hard to get behind them ears, they won't hold still.
think about this from another, much more 'sinful/cheating/sinister' angle. if I were the type guy/gal (player) who just likes women, married or not, this would be great news. there are lots of guys who will do your wife, ring and all, believe me. now married women have a night they get to be w/ their real lover. there is no guess work involved, the women will be there, anxious to party. they just said so in the article.
sounds like something single lesbians would really like as well. party time.
speaking of lesbians, did everybody see where the mayor of Houston, Tx. just demanded all Pastors turn over their sermons to the mayor's office every week for approval? words will now get you arrested, in progressive Houston apparently. happened yesterday, but i've been watching the news (Fox) for over an hour now and not a word. drudge had it on yesterday too and now its gone. never seen matt run before.
