Murder trial underway for woman charged with murdering, dismembering, burning husband

Story here. Excerpt:

'Witness testimony continues Wednesday in the trial of the Stanley woman charged with second-degree murder in the death of her husband, Adam Chase, in June 2012.

Opening statements were given this morning in Ontario County Court in the trial of Rose M. Chase, of 2215 Mott Road. Rose was indicted in February on the charges of second-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence and endangering the welfare of a child.

The indictment alleges that Rose “intentionally caused the death of Adam Chase” on or about June 14, 2012. It further alleges that Rose transported Mr. Chase’s body from their residence to 4675 Hagerty Road in Potter, Yates County, and concealed it there before ultimately burning the body at that location.'

A man facing charges under similar conditions would never be referred to by the more personable/sympathetic way of the first name. Can you imagine a male suspect in such a gruesome case as this referred to by his first name? And I think there'd be more reference to their relationship, too. Try flipping the names, as follows:

'The indictment alleges that Adam “intentionally caused the death of Rose Chase” on or about June 14, 2012. It further alleges that he transported Mrs. Chase's body from their residence to 4675 Hagerty Road in Potter, Yates County, and concealed it there before ultimately burning the body at that location.'

I think it's more likely we'd see this:

'The indictment alleges that Chase “intentionally caused the death of Rose Chase” on or about June 14, 2012. It further alleges that he transported his wife's body from their residence to 4675 Hagerty Road in Potter, Yates County, and concealed it there before ultimately burning the body at that location.'

See the difference? It may seem like hair-splitting or maybe I'm picking nits or being "too sensitive", but after reading so many stories like this with perps both male and female, the blatant and less-blatant ways in which the media presents these kinds of stories becomes increasingly apparent. But what do you all think? Is what I'm talking about here a shared perception?

When writing articles, I was taught that when subjects have the same last name, then use first names to prevent confusion.
