Masculinity
The next time a feminist blogger claims masculinity is destructive please remind them about these brave and selfless men.
Yes
Need I even say it: if these were all women, there would be talk of creating a new national holiday over it and building a huge memorial to them on the National Mall in D.C. Instead, being that they were all men, these firefighters (not, of course, fireMEN) will like the firemen killed in Webster, NY not long ago, eventually be forgotten by the public. I give it a month, possibly less. Of course, their families and friends will remember them. But the silence will be deafening soon enough.
But maybe I expect too much from a world that shrugs its shoulders at over 16,400 kids per day, and many more adults, dying from hunger, much less war, pestilence, etc.
My this has gotten grim.
All Headlines just say "Firefighters"
Naturally, when all of the victims are men, all of the news headlines ignore gender and just refer to the profession of those involved. But, when a number of healthcare workers are killed in Pakistan, we are told that "x number of female healthcare workers were killed". When it turned out that some were men, they adjust this to "x number of healthcare workers were killed, mostly women". The same thing happens when military casualties are reported.
Funny how they want things to be "gender neutral", but only when no women are involved, isn't it?

Good Point
It would not surprise me in the least bit if people mourn these firemen by saying ..."The men and women who died". For some reason women must be included even in situations where they're not present. They ride the coattails of a mans accomplishments and sacrifices.
When a man
When a man commits a crime, it's a gunman, or a knifeman, etc, but as has been pointed out before, these are all firefighters...
PC nonsense, brought to you by the people who think words like manhole cover are unacceptable.
