"Women are not Oppressed" by Bernard Chapin

Essay here. Excerpt:

"It seems that nothing will ever satiate the activist’s desire to unbalance the playing field as they have “championed blatant favoritism toward mothers in child custody disputes, often to the point of vilifying fathers” which has resulted in a stance best described as “maternal chauvinism.”

"Are women treated as objects in our society? Of course not, the only justification for such thinking arises from their often being handled like religious relics. Pleasing them and meeting their needs is now the basis of our societal structure along with our domestic laws, consumer goods, and perhaps television"

I firmly believe that people like Dombrowski are psychopathic (recall Dworkin). But the real problem is that these wackos are not merely "on the fringes"; it could be the woman sitting next to you on the Metro-rail (not that one would sit that close to a man).

Feminists like Dombrowski complain that women are the "object of rescue" in film. Well I for one would like to see this favoritism toward women go away too..maybe some women could do some rescueing themselves for a change (although that would not be a reflection of real life - see "Titanic"). The "woman in jeopardy" TV/movies, otherwise known as 'jep' films, always portray men as evil and/or incompetent. Basically, the woman is a victim of an evil male villian, and there is always at least one incompetent man who fails to rescue her. And the man who does recue her is "rewarded" with her wonderful attention to him (if he is lucky). These films do far more harm to men than women (see Nathanson and Young).

Also, if feminists don't like the "objectification" of women for their beauty, why don't they write to their friends at Cosmopolitan and let that publication's writers know what they think. Virtually all of these publications are headed and run by women. It sound to me like feminists are the ones who are exploiting women. Also, typically, many of the articles, ads, cartoons, etc. in any given issue of any women's magazine, are insulting to men (see Farrell).

Dembrowski is also giving us the usual whining about pornography being exploitive of women.
For a more sophisticated and honest view of pornography from women's perspectives, check out Wendy McElroy's Feminist Overview of Pornography, Ending in a Defense Thereof.
Here's an excerpt (from the concluding section):

"After any defense of pornography, a question invariably arises: Is no form of pornography objectionable?
"On a political and legal level, the answer is: No form of pornography between consenting adults is objectionable. Pornography is words and images, over which the law should have no jurisdiction."

She forgot to add that psychopathic feminists, who are in abundance, should have no jurisdiction over it either.
