Dem resolution warns climate change could push women to ‘transactional sex'

Article here. Excerpt:

'Several House Democrats are calling on Congress to recognize that climate change is hurting women more than men, and could even drive poor women to "transactional sex" for survival.

The resolution, from Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) and a dozen other Democrats, says the results of climate change include drought and reduced agricultural output. It says these changes can be particularly harmful for women.

"[F]ood insecure women with limited socioeconomic resources may be vulnerable to situations such as sex work, transactional sex, and early marriage that put them at risk for HIV, STIs, unplanned pregnancy, and poor reproductive health," it says.'

... death by starvation and disease, and create heavy burdens around being able to find work. Since contention for scarcer resources leads to increased violence to settle the matter of who gets what, it places the lives of men in increasing danger as they get conscripted into military service (ie, slavery) as boys or men, or are simply victims of violence by others seeking said resources whether they're armed or not.

Women are in increasing danger of being added to ranks of the "the world's oldest profession". That's not good. But neither is men being added to the ranks of the unburied dead. No one on "The Hill" seems to care much about that though.

I very much agree with Matt's comment. if aggricultur production is reduced so much that there is not enough food to go around, your will see exploitation, which would lead to "transactional sex" among other forms of exploitation like slave labor. Since women have more sexual value compared to men, they will not go hungry. men on the other hand will.

I cant believe that "transactional sex" is considered the worst of all terrible consequences of climate change and that it is so imminent that we need to spend congressional efforts on the issue now.

I also notice that Ms. Lee if referring to it as a "global issue" indicating that it would most likely effect poor countries. On her official congressional page she mentions The Carribean, Haiti and Cuba in her issues. She mentions that she is of Carribian ancestory.

Makes me wonder if she is really serving the United States or not in her congressional duties.

Since the article does not directly quote her as saying that women will be impacted more by global warming, I thought maybe it was just the authors interpretation. However, in other articles she does indeed use language over and over indicating that more concern should be on women as she believes they will be impacted more.

This is why I very rarely vote women or minorities (with race-specific or biased agendas) into office.

PS- I just thought of this quote from the artice:

"Climate change could also add "workload and stresses" on female farmers, which the resolution says produce 60 to 80 percent of the food in developing countries."

Is this true?? If women produce most the food, then why would they need to trade sex for food?

Feminists never let facts get in the way of their agenda.
