Ontario schools to offer "gender studies"
I implore readers in Ontario to take action against this. Excerpt:
'The five Western students figured that once the Minister of Education heard about their project, he’d surely see the light and introduce women’s studies into the curriculum.
It was their first foray into activism. They had no idea what awaited them.
“We didn’t even know what a deputy minister did,” says Rawal, now a lawyer. “When we met him, he said ‘Is this a course for girls?’ ”
Their story is a model case study for activists. The formula? Keep focused on one simple idea. Build bridges with everyone interested. Keep the message positive. Have fun along the way, with crochet parties and feminist read-ins on the lawn at Queen’s Park. And grind, grind, grind.'

"It's been bad enough that young men and women have had their minds polluted at university under the guise of "gender studies", but now five "believers" have convinced the Ontario government to push this poison on even younger minds. I supposed it's not surprising that something this hateful could be brought to the mainstream; I mean, Hitler did it with great success. However, boys have been under attack for decades now. If this is allowed to stand, their future failure will be assured. Please people, if you ever had thought about joining the men's cause and standing up against female chauvinism, now's the time. Don't let future generations of men (and women) be brainwashed with the hate-speech that passes for "gender studies". Our society is having a hard enough time fighting terrorism, unemployment and high taxes, let's not add to it by poisoning young minds."
Leading to... ?
What happened to Rehtaeh Parsons was not the product of a lack of feminist indoctrination nor of some evil patriarchy. It was the result of vicious, criminal levels of harassment and bullying, if not also rape (I only say "if not also" since there was never a trial). The same thing happens to a lot if kids in schools for other reasons, though thankfully far less traumatic: their perceived or actual sexuality, or maybe they're "social misfits", or any number if other things. In the age of Facebook however, what were once acts of bullying that were witnessed by the bullies and some students standing around can now be recorded on smartphones and posted on-line for the whole school to see-- over and over again. Being bullied in school these days entails a lot more on-going shaming, I think, than it used to, since with social media, entire bullying campaigns can be orchestrated against victims on-line.
Adding feminist, or "gender studies", classes to the school, probably won't cause teen sociopaths to become anything other than what they are. [What was needed in the Rehtaeh Parsons case was for the adults involved to actually act like adults and get involved immediately in what was happening; instead, they did what adults do 99.9% of the time they know bullying is going on: they ignore it.] However it may have other effects or become something that has nothing to do with trying to raise awareness about sexual assault-- in fact, that's what I think it will do. And as people who have seen it happen know, "gender studies" classes usually simply turn into on-going campaigns of male-bashing demagoguery. It's in colleges... looks like it's now heading into high schools, too. Next stop: grade schools?
Oh and in case anyone wonders where I stand on these guys that did what they did in the Parsons case? Well, anyone who's been reading MANN for any length of time knows that when it comes to law enforcement, I stand for two things: equality under the law and assigning a level of punishment that acts as a true deterrent as well as punishment. Critical point: No double-standards based on gender or anything else. You do the crime, you do the time. The perps should be put away... for a very, very long time. I don't know what charges will actually stick but no matter, every day they live they should thank whatever god they may believe in that I wasn't handing out the sentences.
Mandatory?
Is this program an elective or mandatory?
If Canadian high school is
If Canadian high school is anything like American high school, I would then assume the specific class wont be mandatory, but students probably have a certain number of social science classes they have to take to graduate and that class would likely be one of the social science choices. If I remember correctly, my high school had about four social science classes to choose from and we had to take two of them to graduate.
I entered high school after the start date, and most classes I wanted were full so I had to take whatever classes had openings, and I was forced to take a bunch of classes I was un-interested in. I suppose students could get forced into a class like I was.
Also makes you wonder which class got the boot to make room for this class.
