Sexual assault case involving four female suspects a bizarre anomaly
Article here. Excerpt:
They could be sex molls or sex maulers.
Definitely on the chubby side, though: described as around 190 to 200 pounds and five-foot-four.
Last seen teetering around in high heels and short black dresses — typical clubbing attire — their estimated age 30 to 36, so not cougars on the prowl.
A quartet of ladies, wanted in connection with the sexual assault of a 19-year-old male.
What the women are alleged to have done to this young man is unclear and won’t be clarified unless, perhaps, the incident ever comes to trial. The victim has declined to be interviewed, in a Star request relayed by Toronto police.

Of course, one man’s sexual assault is another man’s sexual fantasy come true.
Around the assignment desk at this paper Monday, there were both chortles and priggish warnings not to play snide or mischievous with the slim facts as we know them. Mustn’t be seen to make light of an alleged sexual crime simply because the victim is a male, which would be reverse sexism and a double standard — men’s rights groups the first to pounce, no doubt — despite the obvious snickering quotient.

Sexual assault, you say? Lucky guy others say, nudge-nudge, a fivesome and didn’t even have to pay for it.

Wanted: Bad girls in black minidresses and stilettos, approach with caution.'

And again...
So predictable... Of course, just reverse the sexes in the essay and you see the dbl standards in action.
The author has a site page here. It lists her email and phone number. I want to suggest ppl NOT call her. It plays right into the opportunity she (and others like her) try to create for you to contact them directly by voice where interactions can easily get out of hand. By giving you the chance to get really annoyed with them and lose your cool, you feed into what they want from you: a dramatic reaction. Certain ppl LIVE for confrontation/drama. Don't let them lure you in, esp. if it won't yield any desirable results for you. Best thing to do with her is email her and point out the sexism of her tone and treatment of the topic and most important perhaps to her that her suggestion that maybe the (alleged) victim (or some other man) "really wanted it," sounds a lot like what ppl used to say when they read abt a female being sexually assaulted. And, it also perpetuates a stereotype abt men that ultimately is bad for women, too. As for how so many fewer sexual assaults are perpetrated by women vs. men, point her to the many resources and studies that show differently. You can even point her to jezebel.com for this info, here.
Another good article, here.
There are plenty of others, too. The Google can help uncover them if you need it. (One " big list" of female sex offenders is at http://femalesexoffenders.com/fso/ )
If you do email her, please stick to facts and use quotes from her piece and point out the dbl standards revealed by flipping the sexes in her statements. How can she dispute that? Above all, avoid any kind of name-calling. It just distracts from the points you're making and makes the other person feel vindicated.
A list of editorial email addresses is here. There are quite a few, pick which ones you think you want to cc your email to. :)
The Letters to the Editor page is here. News media with a payroll to meet are very sensitive to whether their material is appealing or not, thus more or less likely to attract subscribers. It may not hurt to mention that biased, sexist essays written by members of their staff, no less, do nothing to increase the likelihood that you'll either maintain your subscription, buy one, or even bother to view the web site again any time soon.
I'm a man
If anyone were laughing about this in my office it would take all my tolerance to not viciously assault your half-man ass, you weak pathetic cowards. Man up for men's rights you degenerate perverts!
Suppressed Figures
"We do instinctively think of sexual assault as something done to women by men because the stats bear that out: 90 per cent of victims are female and 99 per cent of the offenders are male."
And the reporter explained earlier why that might be: because not enough people treat female-on-male attacks as serious, and try to make the victim feel as though he was "lucky."
