Article here. Excerpt:
'On Saturday, Nov. 10, AARP Connecticut sponsored a half-day conference for Boomer-age women on "Living Longer, Living Smarter and Reinventing Yourself" at the Pond House Caf at Elizabeth Park in West Hartford. The conference, attended by more than 150 women, featured a keynote address by well-known Connecticut TV broadcast personality, Diane Smith, and a moderated panel discussion with professional experts and the women who have lived it on topics including, Adult Education, Health and Wellness, Entrepreneurialism, Finances, and more.
The conference was sponsored by AARP Connecticut and Decide.Create.Share. - an AARP initiative dedicated to increasing awareness among women about the depth and breadth of long-term care and the benefits of life-span planning. Informed by research, the initiative's resources engage women as leaders with their families, informal networks, and communities to learn about long-term care, actively plan for a secure future and share what they learn with others.'

Even as men die years before women on average...
... AARP needs to do a conference specifically for women regarding old age issues. How about one for men highlighting health/longevity concerns?
I wonder if they had a special focus session entitled "The Best Way to Spend Your Dead Husband's Money"? I mean, really, call this "conference" by its actual name if you're going to hold it.
