Story here. She beat him up in bed after a marriage counseling session:
'Wife arrested for assault. On March 13, sheriff’s deputies were called to Swedish Southwest Emergency Room, 6196 S. Ammons Way, to investigate an assault. The man suffering from head and shoulder injuries said he had been beaten by his wife in bed after coming home from a session of marriage counseling at their church and arguing. The woman later agreed to meet the deputy at the Jefferson County Jail and was arrested for assault.'

Sticks and stone will break bones but words can hurt much more
This is great to see that this incident has enough merit to make it to the newspaper, however, what bothers me is that the wife was arrested for 'assault'. When the bean counters at NOW tally up their statistics, this incident probably won't make it in their regression formula. Why? because this incident isn't considered Domestic Violence, it's an assault. What I have come to learn is that man women who hit men and are arrested are charged with assault and NOT DV. This throws a wrench in the accuracy of DV statistics and not in a good way for men. The socially acceptable formula for spouse on spouse violence is this:
Hubby hits wife = DV
Wife hits hubby = assault
Take a snapshot of the DV statistics and the wife hit hubby formula is excluded from their study. This gives false statistics and gives a fuzzy and clouded picture of men being the abusers while the female abuse numbers are miscategorized and not counted against the male abuser totals.
