F&F: Boston Globe calls for shared parenting
Article here. Excerpt:
'In an editorial this week, The Boston Globe called on the legislature and the Governor to convene a Shared Parenting Task Force. This could prove to be a breakthrough on shared parenting in Massachusetts, and then, like marriage equality, in the rest of the country. It is the first time The Boston Globe has taken a stand on a Task Force for shared parenting. The Boston Globe said there is “a genuine need to examine the workings of family courts,” Also, “It’s time to break the contentious impasse [on this issue].”
This editorial will increase the pressure that Fathers and Families has been bringing behind the scenes for the Legislature to act. The Globe’s editorial is a direct result of YOUR past activism and support, as well as the activism of some who are outside of Fathers and Families.'

Shared Parenting
Let's be careful about descriptions.
Joint custody is automaticaly bestowed on children by simply having a mother and father that stay together after they are born.
On the other hand "shared parenting" is a legal device. Here the courts decide what is in the "best interest" of the child. The court may agree with the father, the mother or neither of them. In short, the state takes over guardianship of their children.
Their warring parents both feel vindicated because their adversary did not win.
In fact, they both lost. They handed their children to the state.
Everybody happy now?
Good point
Had a friend who won "joint custody" of the kids. But the mother won "primary residence" so guess who got the child support?
Yep, a rose by any other name means the father gets shafted.
